Binge Has Live Foxtel Channels

So I've been playing around with my Binge subscription when I noticed that on the iPhone app if you have something playing and then swipe the video down you get to a menu that is inaccessible through any other method (can't get to it without playing something else).

From there you can select channels and then access a stack of Foxtel Live TV channels.
The only place I can see this mentioned is buried in a Finder.com.au article.

The channels are:

  • Fox Showcase
  • History
  • Fox ONE
  • Universal TV
  • Crime Investigation
  • MTV
  • BBC First
  • BBC Earth
  • Lifestyle
  • BBC UKTV
  • Fox Sleuth
  • Fox Crime
  • Lifestyle Home
  • Lifestyle Food
  • Nickelodeon
  • Nick Jr.
  • Fox Arena
  • E!

I'm just curious why they wouldn't make this more accessible or even advertise the fact it's a feature? I can't even figure out how to access it on the website. It's a huge value add.

  • Found some more info here which answers my question, but still leaves me puzzled.

  • Interesting.. just found the menu you’re referring to

  • Live channels? Meh. If it was on demand access to the channels then it might see more use.

  • This feature has been well discussed over on whirlpool since day 0.

It only exists because of content licencing agreements to allow the on demand streaming pf certain shows.

  • It's on Android too but not the web - well spotted OP.

  • Has anyone tried to see the linear channels on Android TV app? I scrolled down completely and yet to find it.

On the bottom of the Shows tab is where I see them on iOS, Android and Apple TV.

  • +1

It's a shame the stream quality is so low. Technically a 1080 stream on TV, but it looks atrocious.

    • Agreed. For some reason most movies far a lot better, but the TV shows are horrible in dark scenes.
      Unwatchable in some.

  • Good find, thanks mate

  • As mentioned, they have been there since the beginning kinda hidden at the bottom of "Shows".

From what I've seen some of the channels have come and gone. Sure, they do add value to Binge, but I find that most of the time the crap that they have on isn't worth watching.
I'd prefer a MTV channel just to have music videos running in the background while I do other things.

Unfortunately Binge still isn't even that great. I still find more content to watch on Stan after a few years than Binge after a few months.

  • Is the content on these channels available on demand or is the only time you get to watch it is when it’s on the live tv function.

For example - can I stream BBC Earth content or only see that via this “live” section?

  • After 26 years and 2 months, my family and I had an active foxtel subscription, I ended the relationship last month. There are a few shows that my elderly mother watches on foxtel that the live channels on Binge offers. The only issue is, I guess if you’ve never had foxtel you wouldn’t miss it, but there is no tv guide and no streaming of a show once it has aired. If you miss it, basically stiff.
