Soda Steam Hack and Poor Pressure

Heya,

Has anyone else done the kegland soda stream adapter hack with the bigger bottle, and noticed poor pressure/poor fizziness? If feel like I need to hold down the button for twice as long compared to traditional soda stream canisters..

The pressure within the SodaStream branded bottles and the keg land bottles is the same so there should not be a difference until the bottles get closer to empty.

However there are 2 versions of Keg Land Freedom hose that you are likely using to hook the large bottle to the SodaStream. Unfortunately, the version 1 of the hose (identified by the quick disconnect adapter) has a design floor where the 2 o-rings in that quick disconnect perish and become lodged within the hose, restricting flow and making the shoes useless (This happened to me).I suggest inspecting the quick connect for defective orings now. You will notice that the new hose on the web site does not have the quick disconnect, preventing the problem going forwards. I got 20% off from keg land to replace the hose (via email) but I’m still a little peeved.

Maybe it’s the same issue for you as it was for me.

Yep, had this issue after 1yr with the version 1 of the hose. The seal had blocked the hose to almost no pressure coming through.

Have not received any discount or sympathy from Kegland though:(

    • Seems I've got the newer version:

I just weighed the 2.6kg bottle and it came in at 7kg. This page suggests its empty https://www.kegland.com.au/freedomone-sodastream-adapter-hos… Its a couple of months old..

Like that page suggests, I wonder if I have screwed the soda stream end in too tightly which isn't allowing the pin to disengage, leaking C02 slowly…

  • Adjust the regulator, lower the tank level, the more open the regulator ;)
Has lasted 2 years on 6kg of CO2 with the same level of fizzing as the original canisters (we have tested the canister from time to time)!

    • Thanks for the quick reply, but where is the regulator? I’m not convinced I have one?!
