Suggestions for Pull up Bar Frame (Cannot Use Door Frame Pullup Bars)

Unfortunately my door frames are way too thick for standard door frame pull up bars - so am looking at purchasing a frame.

Has anyone else looked into these, or have any suggestions?

Considering grabbing one of these - but I've seen a fair few bad reviews for dshop, and not sure if the reviews for this frame are actually legit. Some of them read a bit sketchy.. https://www.dshop.com.au/buy/power-tower-dip-bar-pull-up-sta…

  • How tall are you?

Can you mount stuff/anchor anything into a wall? It'll offer other good options.

Over all that style looks ok.

      Not very tall (165cm)

I'm renting, and the place was newly renovated, and I know my landlord would not be happy about installing a wall/ceiling mounted bar.

  • Not sure of your circumstances but I would suggest a pair of adjustable rings over a pull up ba if possibler. Lots more versatile, cheaper and portable.

    • Do you mean something like these? https://www.amazon.com.au/KYLIN-SPORT-Gymnastic-Adjustable-C…

I'm looking for something that wont require modification to the property So i don't have to seek consent from my landlord. (Which Is why i was thinking a frame)
The place was newly renovated, and the landlord is very unlikely to provide consent to install a bar from the wall, or ceiling.

I got my rings from Ironedge and the wooden pair with wide straps. Wood is much better than the plastic alternative.

Yup I get you, I rent too but was lucky I could set something up in the garage.

Biggest issue with the frame is stability and bulk. I would try and do some research into alternative options. Do you have open frame stairs??

Thanks for the reply! No stairs unfortunately. Only one floor - and no garage either. We have a small tiled/stone backyard (stones in between tiles, dirt underneath the stones) and outside of the house is brick.

Fence around the property is flimsy metal - so can't attach anything to that either.

Was thinking I could potentially dig the feet into the dirt and use sandbags to weigh it down - but honestly not sure how stable it'd be until I try it, lol.

Definitely not a fan of the bulk - I'd prefer to keep it minimalistic if possible, just thinking it might be my only option. I loved the doorframe pullup bars in my old place, it's a real shame they don't fit here..

Beginning to think the 'sale' for the frame I listed isn't actually a sale - since it's been extended another day. I won't rush into anything, and will spend some more time tonight/tomorrow seeing if I can come up with a better solution..

          • @mahdoo: Any time 😊 happy to help 👍

Yeah the digging sounds like a good option but your right about stability. Usually requires concrete foundation to be on the safe side.

Your alternative is to reach out to a carpenter and see if they can build something out of wood that could work on the existing door frames in a similar fashion like what you had. Think of it like a custom door frame pull up bar just for your place.

Do you have any trees?? Might be able to suspend something from that perhaps?

            • @vash5: No trees either unfortunately. Would have been nice!

  • how did you go with buying the pull up bar frame? Im in the market for one as well.

I ended up getting the one I linked in the post. Works quite well, I'm happy with it.
