What ever happened to the culture here where spending more for local was acceptable?

    • You know it when you realise people would buy a Chinese TV if it gave them a few extra inches for the same price.

      • Then complain that it takes half a minute to boot up and the menu is so slow, but that's okay because price.

        • Instinctively, short-term gratification always wins.

  • what is difference between the Tie and Loop options? (besides one being in stock ofc..)

    edit - saw answer above,

    • +2

Loop is elastic you can put it on and off easily

Tie achieves tighter fit but less comfortable and used almost exclusively in a hospital setting, and stops you from taking it off easily.

Not sure why so much hate for this deal. Of course something made in Australia with fair labour conditions is going to be more expensive. There is also compelling evidence to show that at least some of the masks coming out of China are from forced labour camps made by the Uighur people.

    • Beautiful people

      • Beautiful people with much disposable cash

  • Both Loops and Ties are shown "Sold Out" for me.

And just realized they wanna charge for extra shipping. Mic drop. Devil in the details, make worse "deal"

Also why "Con" in the name 👀

FYI/review about this brand of MedCon masks (no comment on the seller)

I work in a hospital and we have been using the tie version of these masks for a few months now. Quality wise, they are some of the better masks that we have been supplied (there is every brand under the sun that has been TGA approved in the hospital atm). They're thick and have a large surface area when unfolded.

For those who are concerned about the quality of these masks or whether they meet the "required specifications" I hope to high hell that they do because we are using them all day every day in close contact with patients (including those who are suspected).

My only gripe is that as someone of smaller face size, the folds of this particular brand do not sit well under my nose due to it's larger surface area. If you've got a larger face or a short beard I'd imagine they would be a better fit.

Also, if you're finding that your mask is riding up your face, or sliding down your nose, it may be due to your ear loops or tie back behind your head being too loose. Fold the mask in half to create a bend that can be better moulded around your nose, and tighten those ear loops/ties tight so it presses lightly against your cheeks.

Stay safe everyone and wash your hands!

can you advise what sort of tying technique is best for these? A dead knot?

i have irrational fears of ties coming off/loose accidentally (eg hooked on something)

      • wearing one for 10 hours a day simple loop tie like you tie your shoes is sufficient. never had one come undone. Halyard are superior but cant get them anymore outside us

      • +3

As these types of surgical mask are single use only, a simple dead knot at the back of your head is best to secure it down. You may have to find a comfortable position on your head to tie it at, at the crown, slightly below, or one at the nape. The best location to place the ties is so it has a good fit around your face and doesn't ride up.

This guide explains it quite well - https://preceptmed.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Donning-Do…

For the ear loop masks that are too large to fit on your face, I like to do this - https://bit.ly/2P1RikA

One of the most important points about wearing a mask is not touching it once it's on your face. Imagine that someone did cough in your face, those cough droplets may have landed on your face and your mask. Now your mask is essentially carrying those germs/virus. When you remove the mask, use the loops or ties to remove, don't touch the front of the mask. Dispose of appropriately, or chuck it straight in the washing machine for hot wash (if a cloth mask).

At the end of the day, every little bit helps.

Just get KN95 same thing and Aussie made a presume

    • -1

That assumes you are getting genuine KN95 masks.

    • +2

If it was Aussie made then it would conform to the P2 standard. Not the KN95 (Chinese) standard.

I bought these a month ago and they are very good quality, much better than the crap I got in March from Priceline (blue "medical" masks in a clear plastic sleeve lol 5 for $20)

    The price here isn't much different compared to what retailers are selling the overseas product for (but at least these are genuine & locally made);

    Chemist W - Origin: China $49 for 50pcs (was $59 2 weeks ago)
    Bunnings - Origin: China $10 for 10pcs
    Officeworks - Origin: China $54.95 for 50pcs
    Officeworks - Origin: China $50 for 50pcs

    You get the idea…

Let's not get caught up with the dodgy eBay listings &/or convince ourselves that $15 for 50pcs will get us any kind of quality, made to Aus standard mask, you are dreaming..

  • KN95 or N95 same crap

  • The masks with ties are back in stock. 50 comes to $73 inc delivery

Loops are still out of stock.

    • It was only $9.95 shipping to Melbourne

      • $12.95 to Sydney for me

  • I'm a sheep.

  • Can this be worn while sleeping?

    • +1

Can it be shorn while sheeping?
