Great price for what looks like a pretty good game. Definitely $28 worth of gameplay!!!

Has this got a decent offline single player campaign or is it online multiplayer focused?
Game is primarily a single-player game. You don’t need a constant internet connection to play.
(It has multiplayer modes, but there’s hardly anyone playing)
Very good single player provided you enjoy completing the different challenges on each map with replayability aspects. You play more, you unlock more gadgets to help do different stuff.
Multiplayer is more of a "who can be the first to finish" while have slight interactions with each others world.
As for offline specifically. I think it doesn't lock you out of anything apart from leaderboards if you are offline.

I got hitman season 1 on PS4, is it best to stick with the PS4 version of hitman 2?
If you want Hitman 1 levels in Hitman 2, stick to the same platform.
If you don’t care, do whatever fits.
Something to note: progress from Hitman 2 will carry over to the upcoming sequel Hitman 3.
