Penfolds Father Grand Tawny pays tribute to 169 years of winemaking excellence. A blend of many outstanding tawny components separately matured in seasoned old oak casks, with a minimum blended average age of ten years. The results yields a wine of generous concentration, vitality, exceptional balance of fruit and oak age complexity. The tawny lingers in the mouth, finishing clean and tight.

Disappointed that the First Choice says out of stock but I will be trying in store tomorrow at both them and Dans tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up OP

        Out
        Of
        Stock.

        • Do you have another store local? It'll be just the store you have selected that's out of stock.
Or, as above, if you switch to delivery it should change also.

Just thinking of six bottles of tawny makes my gums hurt.

    • You don't have to drink them all at once :)

All depends on personal tastes to be honest. Being 21 years old, the de bortoli you linked will probably be slightly nuttier in taste, I personally have not tasted it myself. My Penfolds 10YOs arrived today and had my first taste - very very nice for $24. Extremely smooth with a very long finish, can taste it for a long time after it's been drunk. No sense of burning at all. Compares nicely to Galway Pipe IMO.

De Bortoli is 500mL compared to Penfolds 750mL.

Therefore, 750mL volume equivalent would be paying over $50 per bottle.

There are some very nice, older aged but highly priced tawny and vintage ports out there.

Quite like the Penfolds myself - even the Club Reserve at a bit over $13 is a solid, consistent drop compared to others in near price range.

Two bottles of this for $50 compared to one of De Bortoli (even if it is a 21 year old) seems pretty decent bang for buck.

Bagged a few bottles of this, price matched to $24.50 each at my local Dans.

Just the ticket as a nightcap for these cold winter nights ;-).
