Apple - order processing - when do they charge?

Hey all,

So I just bought an MacBook air using a credit card which has some bonus Qantas points on it but I need to hit the min spend before end July.

I noticed it hasn't showed up on the online banking statement and it's been two days. When does apple normally make the charge?

It says it's delivering several weeks from now. So just figuring out if I should make more purchases to get the credit card bonuses. I'm worried the charge only gets applied when they send out the item, and not when I actually made it two days ago.

Thanks

They charge when it goes from processing —> preparing to ship.

Know this as I just ordered pencil, keyboard and ipad. All charged when each individual items' status changed to preparing to ship. This was approx a day before it shipped

I'm guessing it was a customised model? Unfortunately you will need to spend other money to meet the spend for your points as they won't charge it before the end of July if shipping isn't until late august.

      • Can also confirm this. Have done iPhone pre orders. They are normally the week before on the Friday. Usually my card is charged on the Tuesday, ships on Wednesday for Friday delivery. I’d suggest buying something else to grab the bonus points.

  • Usually a few days before you get it.
They charge your card when its dispatched.

Saying this however, they usually authorise your card at time of order if its a large value order. (iphone, macbook etc) but this will be reversed if its more than a few days from order to dispatch.

  • You could always ask Apple if you could swap the order over to gift card as the form of payment. If they agree you could purchase a gift card for the value of your order and that would get charged straight away.
