Cabinet (NOT Wall) Mount for 65 Inch TV That Allows Forward and Swivel Movement

There's a ton of TV wall mounts that let you extend the TV, but I can't find any locally in Australia that let you mount to a cabinet (our walls are too flimsy for mounting). I understand this is because a mount that allows a TV to slide to the front of the cabinet would cause it to topple over from the weight, but we are fixing our cabinet into the floor so should be ok.

  • what about a monitor stand thats made for a large monitor?

Walls being flimsy > Its not the wall you hang a TV or anything heavy on.
You should not try to hang a TV onto a Gyprock wall sheet without using a 'stud or nogging' to screw into.
I take it that there is no Stud or Nogging behind the Gyprock wall sheet where you want to position the TV..

    • Correct, no studs etc.

  • Neighbor bought a Ezymount VTSU70B Universal TV Tabletop Stand for his 65” LG and was impressed with the quality. Some assembly required and on sale at the moment at Appliances on line.

  • I don't really understand the need for a table top TV stand…can't you just use the stand that comes with the TV when you buy it…?

Then just sit it on a $20 lazy susan from bunnings

    • I had a TV with the legs on the very end, it wouldn't fit in on the cabinet.

End up buying a stand like OP wants, which is centred and fits the cabinet.

  • If your cabinet has a thick and decent back that you can mount the TV bracket on, this definitely fits your need. Or you can ask the cabinet maker to attach a thick back on the cabinet.

  • If mounting to the cabinet, the cabinet itself would need to be sturdy enough to absorb the torque/load that the extended TV is producing.

The below is similar to what was posted earlier, but this does allow swivel

If you're confident that your cabinet can hold the load of the TV, then yes get a telescopic bracket, see range below:

Check Amazon prices too. I bought a bracket via Amazon, which was supplied by Selby, but it was 80% cheaper on Amazon vs buying from their store.

    • The one I linked swivels 35 degrees as well as tilt -3 and +10

  • +1

You can mount on cabinet but spread the load. Ideally, place a steel plate behind the cabinet and place the bracket mount bolts through the cabinet and the steel plate.

You cannot use wood screws that are supplied for timber studs on cabinets because
    1. Cabinets are not thick enough.
    2. Cabinets are typically mdf or laminated chipboard, not solid wood.
