Free eBay Listings via Gumtree

Anyone know exactly how the 2 free listings on ebay (pushed from gumtree works)?

Suppose I push 5 listings from gumtree to ebay, do the first two that are pushed qualify for the non final value fee or is it simply the first two sold?

It gets even more complicated when you think about pushing listings close to the end of the month. If I push 3 listings on July 31 and 3 Listings on Aug 1, do I get 4 items with no final value fee? Or is it just the first two that are sold per calendar month.

Unfortunately, the live chat reps gave mixed answers about how it works. They don't have any tools to check whether an item qualifies. There's no self-service tools to check either.

I'm hoping someone here has first hand experience with it.

The service ebay offers far exceeds the fees

    My experience
    1. It's the ones listed first, everything after that, regardless what order they sell, will incur fees.
    2. The limit renews every calendar month regardless of when during the month it is listed. So I could list 2 today and then 2 on the first of August and none will incur final value fee

      I second this.

To confirm, have you ever exceeded the limits and been charged fees? ie, pushed 3 items and sold last 2 pushed … so last item was charged a final value fee.

I was told this promo shouldn't even exist!

    • Now that we've established that it does exist … do you have anything useful to contribute?

Me and an ebay rep have some talking to do….

  • I've used it on occasion but I'm trying to avoid paypal now.

Best to screen shot the deal in case they forget and charge you std fees

    • Best to screen shot the deal in case they forget and charge you std fees

That doesn't really help for my questions, because the T&Cs in the deal are vague.

I want to push >2 listings, but I'll adjust the price so that only 2 sell … wondering how that'll play out for the non final value fee promo.

      • It does help as I have had to pull them up for charging full price

        • What was the exact scenario? Did you list 3 items and were charged a fee for the 1st/2nd item sold?

  • Is the deal for auction only or buy it now listings too?

Can you list an item of any value? $10,000?

Both - auction and buy it now.

Can you list an item of any value? $10,000?

Cars tend to be a separate category on ebay/gumtree (not sure if the deal works on them). I'm not sure if there's a dollar value limit.

      • Thanks

I reckon this is just a scam.

I tried to repost one of my gumtree ads across and after going through the palaver, at the bottom it said I would be charged final value fees. It's a bag for sale at $35.

I have endless argy bargy with Gumtree support and got nowhere. They just reply quoting the offer, nothing about why it doesn't work for me. I suspect they are now ignoring me since I keep going back and telling them to reply to the questions I asked, and not do cut and paste answers.

What part of "answer the bloody question" don't these morons understand? Every interaction with 'service providers" has become a nightmare in Oz these days.

    • What part of "answer the bloody question" don't these morons understand?

The problem seems to be that level 1 support isn't intimately familiar with all the promotions and there's no escalation path beyond level 1 support.

  • I think it's just for the eBay insertion fee. When you try and list an item says you will be charged the final value fee which is the one you want to avoid. Hoping I'm wrong but it seems pretty clear cut.

I do remember it being free final value fee too at one point but can't remember exactly when it changed.

    • It does include the final value fee, but is unnecessarily complicated.

      "What is the promotion?
During the Promotion Period, pay no Insertion Fees or Final Value Fees for an item you list and make available for purchase in a single category when you:
      i) list an item not in an Excluded Category on Gumtree via www.gumtree.com.au (which must be a completed, legitimate listing);
ii) click the “Free Post to eBay” banner displayed on the Gumtree Listing Confirmation Page and click the “Confirm and import listing” button on ebay.com.au (“Click Through”); and
iii) list an item not in an Excluded Category on www.ebay.com.au and subsequently sell the eBay item within 30 days (“Qualifying Sale”) (the “Promotion Requirements”).
Limited to 2 Free Insertion and Final Value Fees per Qualifying Seller per Qualifying Sale per month during the Promotion Period."
