What’s the go with VESA Mounts?

I just purchased this (waiting on shipping atm)

Is there dual arm mounts where you can remove the 2nd arm for future use? If not, I’d love to clean up some desk space and I’ve seen like clamp mounts before. What’s the most affordable one to buy?

  • You can get some dual mounts that are actually two single mounts on a post. The post is mounted parallel and vertical to the wall and the arms are two individual arms on the post.

Remove one arm and it becomes a single monitor mount.

(This was literally the first thing that popped up when I search dual monitor mount.)

  • Unless you're only mounting something small like 19" screens, it's always better to get two separate one-arm mounts rather than a dual-arm mount. They won't take the combined weight and/or won't have the range to hold them properly side-by-side.

    • Just FYI, I'm running a dual 24'' system and it's holding up beautifully.
Of course not all will do this, but if you shop around there are mounts that can take decent sized screens.

Yeah I'm using a Kogan one with 11KG of monitors hanging off it. No issues whatsoever and much neater than two separate mounts. That's enough for two 27" monitors.

  • I had a triple monitor mount. Which I used to mount two monitors (centre one unused and arms can bring two monitors to meet in the middle. Swapped them for 2x NorthBayou F60 mounts to get some more desk space.

Considering cost of dual / triple mounts I would like previous posters buy multiple single mounts. Many as you need.

  • Any recommendations for affordable single mounts?

    • see my comment below. It's a little pricier, but really good quality and it looks a lot cleaner than some of the cheaper ones in the lower $100 range.

  • I have an X34P and one of the issues of it being a big monitor is a lot of mounts won't take the weight, and they have a very small base clamp that risks damaging the desk too much (especially IKEA tops that are very lightweight builds).

I looked everywhere for a mount and actually found one in a company that I was very familiar with from their sit stand desks we have at work. Never knew they did monitor mounts too. The benefit of this mount is it can handle a very heavy monitor (my X34P is about 8kg or so) and it has a large base so it spreads the weight nice and evenly across the table. It's also not overly expensive considering the brand has a great reputation for their desks and a nice warranty.
