So I've got the Oppo A52 and it came with the free gel case. My brother thinks I should get a waterproof case for it though and just generally is unimpressed with gel casing. I'm looking for general information on what you guys looks for in phone cases, and your attitudes towards the different types. And also if anyone has the A52 and recommends one, that'll be nice too (though I usually go for budget options).

As long as you're diligent you don't need an expensive phone case. I've never cracked a screen on my phones and I grab whatever looks cool from Aliexpress.
However on the other hand I have a friend who has spent $40 on a proper tough case and still ended up cooking the phone.Likely depends on lifestyle and how clumsy you are.
I find it amazing that people buy $500-$2000 phones, but they spend the cheapest possible on a case…
