Samsung Galaxy A20 Warranty Issues

Hi all,

Trying to gauge some thoughts and options for the issue below.

Purchased an A20 a couple of months ago as part of a discounted deal. The WiFi appears to drop and not reconnect on a regular basis. In other words regardless of which wireless network it is connected to, after a significant data load i.e. streaming YouTube, video calls etc. it will drop and disconnect. It won't reconnect, but rather require the phone to restart before it can connect and function correctly again. Performed the usual update, network reset, factory reset, trying numerous wireless networks etc. Decided to contact Samsung, after which they took it in for a warranty check. The verdict is that the phone is operating correctly within "manufacturer specifications" and "environmental factors, outside of Samsung's control" are influencing the issue. Before picking up the phone, I discussed the issue with Samsung further to ask how they tested the issue and if they could confirm that a WiFi stress test was performed and all they wrote was that "a firmware update was performed to rectify the issue". I picked up the phone but the issue is still present. Upon further research many A20 phones appear to have the exact same issue. I've tried contacting the service centre and was told Samsung have closed the case and won't be investigating the issue any further. I tried contacting Samsung via phone and asked to speak to a manager/supervisor. The first time (last Thursday) I was put on hold for 30 minutes after which I was told no manager is available and that I would get a call back - never happened. Today I was put on hold for just over 2 hours and then told no manager or supervisor is available.

What are my options (if any)? The phone is essentially a piece of crap and as I've researched Samsung warranty further there are many people complaining about Samsung's warranty process. I suspect the Samsung warranty/service centre is based overseas because no matter who I talk to its almost impossible to understand them as their English is extremely poor.

Any feedback or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Turn off Bluetooth and see if it persists.

    • Tried that already, didn't make any difference.

      • Dang

  • +1

    ACCC?

  • Could try the retailer if you did not purchase direct from Samsung

  • Who did you buy the phone from? An Aussie seller?

  • Hmm I had this issue on an old Galaxy S4 which was out of warranty. Factory reset didn't fix it.
