  • Is solar still permitted to be installed in VIC due to the Stage 4 lockdown?

      Hello Drezy,

      Thank you for your query.

At this stage, solar PV work is classified as "small scale construction" and installations may still be carried out with additional restrictions as advised by the Clean Energy Council (CEC). Should this change, we will advise our clients accordingly in keeping with any updated guidelines.

Make sure you research both company and products. Solarquotes.com.au is a good place to start.

    • I did that, they gave you 3 reputable companies then I choose the first one that called me. More expensive but…

      • You dont have to get the call backs, just use the information on there re: products and companies

  • Are there any potential rare issues if you have Possums running around amuck on the roof at night like what's the worst thing they could do to either cause a disaster or damage etc extra hidden costs due to wildlife?

Our winter bill for 3 people running heaters at night and lots of hot water ended up $840 for three months this year our highest quarter of the year thanks to cold mother nature.

Rest of the year it's usually below $300 sometimes near to $200 even per quarter for 3-4 people.

I think a 6.6kw or higher system might pay for itself easily within a few years for us so I am highly considering it just scared us any possible extra dangers like heavy wind blowing trees into the wires and equipment maybe causing damage or a fire and stuff like wildlife at night messing with it or maybe even cockatoos putting droppings all over it and I know that cleaning the panels on the roof would not be possible for us.

I have tried to get onto the roof a few times to block up a possum hole to no safe avail even a possum guy didn't want to do it too unsafe house fairly old etc.

So yeah what's all the possible dangers with having solar from heavy storms to heavy wind to even heavy snow (we get it sometimes one day a year full snow).

I am in blue mountains nsw if it helps.

I know this deal is for Victoria but asking help here for when a nsw deal pops up so I am pre prepared.

    Thanks in advance.
