Recieved wrong size duvet from Linen dreams eBay seller

Ordered a King size duvet from this deal a year ago. They sent a queen size quilt. I made the purchase before I even bought a king size bed because it looked like a great deal. On receiving the item, I checked the quality, put it through a wash and saw that even the label had a tick (with a pen) on the "King size". And so I thought all is well.

Now after buying a king bed and duvet covers, I noticed that the Duvet isn't filling up the cover, leaving a lot of empty space in it. So I measure the duvet and find that it is a Queen size. Yes, I admit that I should be blamed for not checking things more thoroughly.

The seller is now ignoring my messages and eBay customer care is of no use since its been 1 year after I made the purchase. On going through the past deals for the Linen Dreams eBay store, I can see this is not the first time this has happened with a buyer. Unfortunately for me, this was a purchase I made on my Amex instead of my usual credit card that has purchase protection insurance.

Is there a rep here for the store / does anybody have contact details of the store / has anybody else faced a similar issue with an eBay seller that they resolved after a year?

TLDR: Purchased item from eBay seller. Wrong size received. Silly buyer realized mistake after one year. Can you help the silly buyer?

a year ago you expect to make a claim that you received the wrong item?

    • Unfortunately for me, this was a purchase I made on my Amex instead of my usual credit card that has purchase protection insurance.

      • My credit card has 2 year protection on purchases and I have successfully made a claim before for for an item that was faulty after a year.
      • Amazon has refunded me the price of a sheet that had its colors bleed after a year.

      • This is what I'm hoping to find
      • I agree, a year has passed. It appears the seller got a batch labelled as the wrong size. They sent you what they thought was a king size, and as you didn't use the item for over 12 months, you didn't notice. If you had noticed when it arrived, they would have corrected the issue.

Now after buying a king bed and duvet covers

Its just one of those things, enjoy your queen size item. Hopefully you have a 2nd bed you can use it on or guess who just just a weekend duvet to watch TV with during winter :)

Lots of people have queen sized beds with king sized duvet. So not sure why you waited a year to use this.

        • Kept it for using in our new home. Didnt have king covers, didnt really need it as we had duvets for our queen beds already and I thought I could wait till we got a king bed in the new house.

    Buy a new one. :|

  • Are you sure you have it the right way? King size is WIDER than it is TALL.

What was the size you measured BTW?

    • 210*210

You've gracefully held up your hand to the time its taken you to realise, so credit for that. I'm guessing we are talking under $100? Personally I'd take it on the chin

  • I've ordered a couple of doonas from Linen Dreams and had no issues thankfully. Bluebird Linens however have sent me the wrong item twice and then offered a small refund which I accepted as I couldn't be bothered of having to go back to the post office to return it.

  • This is the company here

You could try contacting them through there and see how you go.
I guess it's a question of what's reasonable at this point, the middle ground would probably be them issuing a refund for the price difference of a king to queen, maybe they could give you a great discount on a new king?
