Decent price, but the drawback to this deal is having to watch the Rise of Skywalker again.

Easily the worst Star Wars film and up there with one of the worst films I've ever seen at the cinema.

    • +1

So much yes. Trash film. Felt like a room of fanboys in year 5 detention came up with most of it.

Last Jedi = best by huge margin.

      • +9

The Last Jedi was an affront to Star Wars and is a terrible film (in my opinion)

        • +3

The Last Jedi as a Star Wars film didn't work. Having said that, overall I thought it was a perfectly watchable movie with parts that I really liked (the throne room fight, for example, was the coolest of the "flashy" lightsaber battles in my opinion. Stunning visuals.)

I also enjoyed that it at least attempted to subvert traditional Star Wars tropes, unlike the other two films in the sequel trilogy that just felt like knock-off brand versions of the original films.

Even if TLJ didn't come together as a whole well, I still appreciate it more than The Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker, if that makes sense.

@theQuinn: On first glance, the Throne Room scene is visually appealing, but that's about it. The choreography is quite bad with Rey missing a lot of her cues, disappearing light sabres, guards just waiting for their turn. There are a few videos dissecting it and revealing how bad it is if you're interested.

I'm all for subverting tropes and going at it differently, as long as it is done well. They wasted Luke Skywalker and it made no sense to have him become this bitter old man all off screen. It didn't carry any weight because it was so jarring to the hopeful Luke we knew before.

Reducing Hux into this comedic, slapstick of a character compared to what he was in The Force Awakens? Rian Johnson came in, tore up everything set up for him and made his own film without a care for what came before, and what came after (probably because he thought he'd be the Star Wars guy). The film tanked amongst fans and it's why he lost his trilogy and JJ came back, and then proceeded to blatantly crap all over the TLJ in TROS.

I really like the characters in the prequels, but they were wasted. Finn, Phasma, Holdo, all could have been something special but instead of character arcs and development, they were sacrificed to make social commentary. I don't even mind social commentary, just do it well! Poe is some sorta mansplaining trigger happy idiot, yet none of his decisions had any real ramifications (don't get me started on the bombers and how stupid that design was). As much as I disagree with weaponising light speed (doesn't work like that), why couldn't it be Akbar that rammed the ship? He is a fan favourite, but he was killed off-screen!

I was so excited for the new Star Wars films, but have been massively let down by Disney. The Force Awakens was okay, but it was classic JJ fan service. That's fine for the first film, but what followed was unacceptable given the universe they had at their disposal.

            Anyway, rant over.

The fact this trilogy made the prequels look good in comparison says so much about the new ones.

    • +1

You’re not wrong. RoS was about as satisfying as riding down a hill on a cheese grater.

      • how do you fit on a cheese grater?

    • Palpatine is that you?

    • RoS is a trash film but tbf, JJ did inherit a poisoned chalice from Rian.

  • I haven't seen the movie yet so I'm happy to pick it up for a little over 20 bucks. I am well aware of the criticism the movie received though :)

    • That cover art doesn't actually happen in the film. They're misleading people that haven't seen it.

      • isn't that a good thing.
Cover art is extra content which you don't get in the film.

    • Cancel your order and watch on a Disney + trial

    • +1

Just get Disney+ for 2 months for the same price. You won't watch it more than once anyway.

    • I haven't seen the movie yet so I'm happy to pick it up for a little over 20 bucks.

It's worth considering if they pay you $20. You pay them? Just find some handyman painting walls, and ask them if they'll let you watch it dry for a few hours. More entertaining and less frustrating.

  • Disney plus has it on 4k? I know it won't have native 4k or audio passthrough but for casual can watch there? Hope this helps someone

    • Marked as out of stock in title. Only mentions Amazon in description so meh.

Bad movie. Anti-climatic end to the new trilogy.

    • Absolutely. Had such promise at the start and it was all wasted

  • +3

1080 is the preferred resolution for this movie. 720 is even better. The less you see of this movie the better.

  • +1

    Tough crowd! ;)

      "Lightspeed skipping" smfh

  • There where do many wtf moments in this movie. After watching it I had to watch reviews to see if there was something wrong with me. I'm not a huge star wars fan so I felt bad for others who are.

    • I still haven't gotten over episode 8

      • -1

there hasn't been a truly great SW film since ROTJ.

        • I am not saying it's comparable but I absolutely loved Rogue One

  • This is a great deal for people who do like the movie. Thanks OP 👍

  • Three nerd things I could never got into: Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor Who. That said, I did enjoy some of the Star Wars games such as the Force Unleashed on last gen and Star Wars Republic Commando on the OG Xbox back in the day

  • +1

no 3d love for this movie?

  • Well I got around to watching this on the weekend. I actually thought it was okay, better than The Last Jedi. Certainly wasn't perfect but hardly the train wreck I expected after all the criticism.
