O2 Sensor and Mods 2013 Focus ST

I have a Focus ST 2013 and have some questions in regards to OBDII codes and mods.

It is modded, has an aftermarket DP and a tune with error P0420 disabled. I am not throwing a P0420 error but am getting a P013A error code and CEL about once a month or 2000k's and only began about 3 months ago when started doing 50km journeys to and from work on the highway. P031A could be caused by a bad sensor or an exhaust leak, so what I was thinking was to remove the aftermarket defouler that the O2 sensor is currently in and put the sensor back into the DP as it was from factory.

At the moment I do not log a P0420 error and am currious if I do put the sensor directly into the DP will it log one?

Someone said the CEL light will not illuminate but the P0420 code will get be logged. Also I am talking about the second sensor in bank 1. The car only has one bank. Trying to get answers first because the sensor is tucked away, not easy to access and is time consuming to work on.

Awesome car mate, but I am unsure if you are going to have much luck getting that kinda technical knowledge on this forum about such a specific car.

    • I agree a focus fb group even in the UK is better than here for this.

    • I am asking on several forums. I have put the question up on FB ST site already. I could ask the tuner but they are always flat out and I don't want annoy them if I don't have to.

  • Take to someone that tunes them, they'll be able to suss it out

  • Not knowledgeable about specific car but… generally speaking a catless DP (assuming this is the mod, since you mentioned a defouler) CEL is not immediate, so it is normal for it to take a while before it is displayed. Since you mentioned your car is tuned, just clear/override the error.

Most aftermarket defoulers are crap. I would check it, would not be surprised if the honeycomb is gone.

"At the moment I do not log a P0420 error and am currious if I do put the sensor directly into the DP will it log one?"

If the DP is catless and the tune does not override, yes you will get the error.

Hope this helps. My experience is with Beemers and Toys.
