Work/Trade/Gaming PC Build Less than $3000 Excluding Peripherals

Hi all,

I am looking to build a PC for less than 3000 - I prefer an Intel system for stability. It will be 50% for work (Matlab, Excel, Chrome), 30% for trading (Chrome) and 20% for casual gaming (Age of Emp 2, Football Manager, CS:GO and potentially Flight Simult/Planet Zoo). It should be able to connect to up to 4 monitors, and to Wifi directly.

I am having a work laptop (Dell Precision, 8th gen i7 with an integrated graphic card, 16GB RAM, 512 GB SSD) and I find it a bit slow and noisy especially when I am running my code and trading at the same time.

Your suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks.

  • I usually go to Part Picker and put something together. I've always chosen three, different builds so I know that at least one will be in stock. I know OzBer's love deals, but there's something to be said for getting everything from one source so you don't end up in the middle of finger-pointing issues if something goes awry.

    ;)

  • Check here, too.

Honestly, if the part reviews seem decent and you pretty much know where you want to drop the coins, you're set. Like I said before, I like to have a few systems in mind in the event some stock is not available. Check the compatibility notes for the one you show. The user reviews also give you a head's-up what you might encounter and not like (such as awkward antenna placement- which my last build suffers from. I had to swap to a USB wifi stick!).

    • Thanks. I'll have a look at that too.

  • Just curious, what does connecting monitors to wifi directly?? Are you looking for wireless monitor?

    • I meant I wanted my PC to connect to Wifi directly like a laptop (so I was talking about Mobo with Wireless). Thanks for spotting that - just edited it.
