A good price for $250 although it is US stock (once it comes back into stock).. previously paid about $280 at JB Hifi for local stock when there was a gaming sale on.

    • How have they been for you?

Pretty pleased with them. The key thing which attracted me was the microphone quality as I wanted to be able to use it for WebEx/Skype/etc when working remotely, and using it wirelessly. Sound quality is pretty good too, but the catch is it's better/louder/etc when plugged in via USB C so there's that dilemma of whether or not to use it in wireless mode. Very comfortable headband, and feels really nice to touch.

Downsides? The microphone whilst detachable uses a proprietary connector size which means you can't replace it in the future, and it's also a bit awkward to plug in too when you're rushing to connect to a meeting. I'm also not a huge fan of iCue since it seems to be more resource heavy/unstable but that could just be me.

ps. Love the username. There's alot of Peppa Pig in my house.

Thanks for the response mate. I've just pulled the trigger on them. Should be a good upgrade from my wired Logitechs.

ps. I did not know it was a character from Peppa Pig. I just like potatos.

@superpotato: I think they are well suited to gaming and WebEx, but they are closed so obviously that comes with the benefits/disadvantages of sound isolation.

And yep, google Super Potato and Peppa Pig. He's actually one of my favourite characters because the kids troll him.

@superpotato: FYI - Turn the RGB off if you're going to be using it for long periods.

Battery life pretty much doubled for me, with the lighting on, it's pretty garbage.

My Cloud Flight's were a nicer headset for long sessions but these are OK.

          • @superpotato: Which logitech is it?

  • I've never bought the 7.1 through 2 speakers malarkey. (I own a 7.1 headset, sometimes I think it works, but I don't believe in black magic).

    • 7.1 through an Audeze Mobius is legit (at least from my limited testing so far) but ya know, you can get almost 3 of these headsets for the price of 1 Mobius…

  • How does this compare to Arctis 7?

    • +3

A short video on each and a few more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5dPvW7NMJE

      Arctis @ 0:40
      Virtuoso @ 2:07

    • Worse sound, better mic, both suffer from the quality limitations of wireless tech.

Arctis 7 goes on sale for as low as $130, and would be more usable as portable headphone, but I'd check proper technical reviews to get an idea on its sound signature when used via 3.5mm as the headphone will have been tuned for wireless mode.

If you can wait, wait for Bluetooth 5.2 headphones because then you don't have to stick with gaming gear and you'll likely wind up with vastly better audio quality thanks to the newer codecs with lower latency.

  • I had no idea surround sound headphones were a thing? Do these rely on the input coming in? How do they split a stereo sound?

    • Well the headphones only have two speakers, so, what do you reckon?

      • +1

so with 2 speakers - where are the other 5 channels coming from? the same 2 speakers? lol

        • Yes

        • It's 'virtual' surround sound. The drivers in the speakers probably do some of the work but the bulk of the 'virtual-ness' is done through software to try emulate actual surround sound. Usually you'll need to use these headsets via USB to get all the features.

It used to be one giant meme but 7.1/5.1 headsets seem to be getting better and better each year. High end headsets with powerful drivers can do it very well, though not sure how these go.

I think you can actually get purely software based solutions to emulate surround on any headset but its probably not very good.

          • @Peaky: The first thing i thought of when i saw this was 8D audio - which i think works will all headset and earphones as it relies on the actual source (the music) and the way they layer the sound.

          • @Peaky: The thing to avoid is multi-driver surround options. Currently it's just too hard to do that in a headphone without impacting imaging, and the inability to do a decent crossover between drivers leaves for a lot of issues.

You see the same crossover issues in cheap multi-driver IEMs and bookshelf speakers.

  • Thanks OP, grabbed a set to replace my old and dieing logitech g933's :)

The connectivity options are really nice with this set, and they seem to review well against the other high end headsets.

  • Damn bought these 2 weeks ago from Amazon for $280, headphones are likely to arrive this week but feeling the buyers remorse rn
