35% off Quincy The Robot Artist $135 Delivered (Was $209)

When did you last sell these at $209 ?

The website wasn't even open last week…

    • -3

Hi JV, that's a great question. As outlined, we're a new startup and have just launched. The Recommended Retail Price is $209 and is the upper range set by our distributor. Hope that helps. Cheers

      • +2

How can a RRP have a range.

      • +6

In the title, you are implying you have reduced the price.

Read the ACCC laws for misleading price comparisons.

You are not allowed to advertise a price comparison to RRP unless you have been selling the item recently at that price.

  • Is the robot good enough to send to art school in my place and the teacher wouldn't notice? Also what kind of grades could this robot expect to achieve at art school.

    • +1

Is the robot good enough to send to art school

It's not good enough to read up on misleading price comparisons under the ACCC laws…

      • +1

Maybe I can employ this robot to do some creative accounting for me, get me a higher tax return.

      • -3

Thanks JV. Here is an American retailer of the Quincy Robot. Priced at $129USD. https://quincyrobotartist.com. Hope this helps.

        • +4

Maybe get your lawyer or marketing department to study advertising laws in Australia.

  • So where are the programming instructions stored? Is it locally on the robot itself or does it connect via Wifi to cloud services, like the Anki robots?

    • +1

Hi scrimshaw, the Quincy is not cloud based. All programming is stored within the robot.

  • Tough crowd!

Having two kids at home during this second lockdown, I can see this being a nice change from the norm. Might pick one up :)

    • Thanks mr-black. Your kids will love it. As do my 5 year old : )

    • +2

I can see this being a nice change from the norm

That's fine, but the issue here is that the price comparison is misleading, they have not sold this for $209 and the ebay price is $128.

      • +6

Hey champ let it go, most people don’t really care and looks like a cool little robot for kids. Take a deep breath and find yourself a hobby maybe.

        • +3

Just doing my bit to "keep the bastards honest…"

        • +1

most people don’t really care and looks like a cool little robot for kids

doesn't seem to be getting many upvotes…

    • +2

'Statements such as 'was $150/now $100' or '$150 now $100' are likely to be misleading if product had not been offered for sale at the specified 'was' or 'strike through' price of $150 before the sale commenced'

That is what the law says…

      and the title clearly states:

"35% off Quincy The Robot Artist $135 Delivered (Was $209)"

      That is deceptive and misleading…

      • -4

Thanks for clarifying the law JV. We're not here to mislead. It has never been outlined as a historical "was" price. The price we've advertised is a promotional launch offer, where we as a young business are limiting our margins to put our name out there. Can I ask what you find fault in this? We have records from our distributor providing us with the appropriate price guidances. If the ACCC was to seek this, then we will happily provide this information to them.

However I do appreciate that you're obviously trying to look out for the best interests of consumers. And we've worked hard to bring consumers a product of benefit them to have a pricing issue reflect negatively on this. We will remove the Pre-Promo price. And stick with our launch price.

        • +1

It has never been outlined as a historical "was" price.

I'll quote your title yet again…

"35% off Quincy The Robot Artist $135 Delivered (Was $209)"

          • @jv: Thanks JV this has already been changed.

            • +2

@ideakidz: You are still claiming 35% off when the product is easily obtainable on ebay for $128.

              That is not 35% off…

  • Seems like a fun product but what do you do with it after all the lessons are completed? Would be very tempting if it also worked with Scratch Jr or a way to program it.

    • Hi twocsies, there will be additional picture card packs made available in the future. We're working on this.

$82 on Wish and Aliexpress. Guessing OP is a dropshipper

    • +1

Hi Pud3000. We don't do drop shipping. We import all our products as we take ownership for quality, delivery times, and warranties. Thanks.

    • +3

Actually $119 plus $17 shipping on wish and $113 on AliExpress

      • Wow, you believe in Wish?

Wish (Online Shop): 1.5 out of 5 stars from 1088 genuine reviews on Australia's largest opinion site ProductReview.com.au

Wish is banned from OzB https://www.ozbargain.com.au/forum/wish.com

        • I wouldn’t go near them simply for the fact that they advertise one price and then whack inflated delivery charges on every individual item.

          • @bennybaubles: I would also give my humble 2 cents and advise parents against purchasing from cheaper alternative channels such as Wish or Aliexpress. The product contains a built in lithium ion battery, and the only delivery options would be via expensive air freight from select carriers or shipping by sea which will take months for your product to arrive. And both options would not afford you any consumer protection should something go wrong.

  • +2

Looks interesting and best of luck to you , but the point of OzBargain is to share a price which is better than alternative options, or provide users with a unique discount better than what you would normally offer.

    Unfortunately, I can’t see a demonstrable bargain.

    • +1

Thanks for the well wishes. We appreciate your feedback. Currently our prices for the Quincy may not be as sharp. However, as we expand our product range, we promise to work on our pricing and bring better bargains to the community.
