  • Wish you guys did one for 250grams. Don't want to risk buying 1kg of coffee that I might not like.

    • +1

Hey! Thanks for your message! I totally understand. This is our first deal here, we're just testing the waters. To be completely transparent, 250g bags are very difficult to discount due to 4x packaging, branding & shipping. If all goes well here, we'll try and come up with something that suits!

  • 250 grams would be great… Love Colombian coffee but 1kg without trying it first seems like a big investment.

      Hey fellow Colombian lover!
As per the comment above…Thanks for your message! I totally understand. This is our first deal here, we're just testing the waters. To be completely transparent, 250g bags are very difficult to discount due to 4x packaging, branding & shipping. If all goes well here, we'll try and come up with something that suits!

      • Joel
  • what's your recommended brew temp and recipe for this?

    also roast date on batch?

    • Hellooo fellow coffee nerd!

      For Espresso:

      Temp: 93°- 94°
      Pressure: 9 bar
      Dose: 21g
      Yield: 36-38g
      Time: 25-27 sec

      For Aeropress / Filter:

      Ratio: 16 : 1
      Temp: 92°
      Time: 3 minute brew

Re Roast batch: This bean is on constant rotation as we also use it to liven up some of our blends. We do our best to ship it out within the golden period of 2 weeks post roast. But, if you'd prefer to have it fresh out of the drum, we can accommodate. Just let me know in the comments of the order and we'll sort you out.

      Joel

      • cheers Joel, I ordered 1kg.

$40 delivered for a Kg of speciality coffee is a good deal.

        • Agree :)

Let us know how you go. Would love your thoughts.

  • no joke I love my coffee, but I've never ever understood the comparisons of tasting notes with things like wine gums and gummy berries.

    • +2

Totally, it sounds ridiculous. Tasting notes are just a means of classification. Fresh green specialty coffee beans have a vast spectrum of potencial flavours. We work hard to try and find a balance between bitterness, acidity, sweetness, body and savoury elements to bring out the best in the bean. We're not saying that it's "tangelo flavoured", but rather that is has a lively tangelo sweetness. If roasted too long, that "tangelo sweetness" may become a "dark chocolate bitterness" or "tobacco smokiness", which some people may prefer.

We classify and rate our coffee by the process of "cupping". Have a google and find your local roaster to join in a cupping session!

      • I've got that poster on the wall above my espresso machine. Which is why "gummy berry" et al makes me more angry because it's not there, haha

        • Apologies for any rage we've caused you! :) haha

Just to clarify, the tasting note is "Wine Gum", as opposed to "gummy berry".
"Winey" sits in the bottom right as an "official tasting note". Our cupping team feels that this coffee has a sweeter winey characteristic rather than a "fermented" taste, hence the use of "wine gum" (https://www.wombania.com/wine-gum-flavor.htm).

We feel that it's a creative way of expressing depth and sweetness :)

Would love to hear your thoughts though. Give it a whirl ; )

  • Thanks for the deal! Thinking of trying.
    I have a Baratza Encore.
Just wanted to know what your recommended grind setting/size and brew time would be for:
    1. French press; and
    2. Aeropress. I see the comment above Re 3 minutes for brew time

    • Hi there!
      Sorry for the delayed response!

I have no hands on experience with Encore, but it's reputation precedes it.
This roast is on the darker side so I would be erring on the coarser side of things when brewing through a filter.

      For the french press:
      We like ratios of 1:16.6

      So 21g : 350ml
      or 45g : 750ml

      Coarse French press grind
      Brew Time: 4 mins

Re Aeropress. We like table salt grinds.
Keen to hear your feed back
