Just an FYI for all those in Victoria looking at JB HI FI/ Telstra in store only deals. As the shops are closed I called up JB HI FI to get one of the current deals ($69 monthly/12 month contract sim only with $400 JB gift card - current promotion in their catalogue).
I was advised they can't action this over the phone, and was advised there's nothing they can do until lockdown is over and stores open.
Anyone out there with any luck?
They never did these deals via phone.

The whole Stage 4 is meant to be 6 weeks and it's been just over a week now.. so it should "only" be "another FIIIIIIIIVE weeks…."!! I really hope it doesn't get extended!

Not JB, but these companies using COVID as a excuse for not manning phones or unbelievable waits is BS. Have had 3 or 4 in last week. Today Telstra business don’t answer they send a text to your phone and want you to message with some chat monkey, piss off i want to talk to a human.
I think you are being unreasonable.
The restrictions on which businesses can open and which cannot open is outside the control of the business.
Those that can't open physically would assess if manning phones is of benefit to them or not; how they could do it; their COVID-19 safe workplace plan; etc.
Those that are providing a phone service are probably swamped with 'desperate' shoppers trying to get their hands on 'essential' products, like new mobile deals.

My comments apply to any business based in Melbourne, or Victoria, regardless if they operate locally or nationwide.

The Telstra call centre may be in Melbourne; they operate from multiple sites and have been very open that they be operating on reduced capacity until they resolve it.
I would assume not.
You have to be in store to do this (hence, in store only deal). Stores aren't open in Melbourne due to Stage 4 lockdown.
It's not a case of finding someone with luck, it's a case of "can't do it" with the current situation.
