Nanoleaf Remote Bricked after Last Update

Anyone else had their remote bricked trying to update firmware. Was trying to update it through ipad and the update failed at about 40% as signal link dropped out between devices. Couldn't reset remote. CS is now sending a new one. Which by the way is now only priced at $39.99 in the Nanoleaf Aus store. The CS help originally also suggested moving the remote while upating. Either the ipad or remote must be set to some sleep mode if not moved. Never had a chance to retry.

Tip 1. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

My remote was over 1 half years old and working fine till I decided while WFH to play with it. Just had to provide copy of receipt and address details for replacement. Anyway only for those with a remote. Might save you some time. Spent 1hr trying to find the receipt. I'll never get that back. CS was prompt, and apologetic which was good.

For those not already aware, for claims under ACL it does not have to be a receipt as proof of purchase. Please note that this does not apply to change of mind, etc: only warranty claims (under ACL).

    https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/prices-surcharges-receipts… [emphasis mine]

A receipt can come in the form of a:

    • a GST tax invoice or
    • a cash register or hand written receipt.

Other types of proof of purchase include:

    • credit or debit card statement
    • a lay-by agreement
    • a receipt or reference number given for phone or internet payments
    • a warranty card showing the supplier’s or manufacturer’s details and the date and amount of the purchase
    • a serial or production number linked with the purchase on the supplier’s or manufacturer’s database
    • a copy or photograph of the receipt.

The Australian Consumer Law does not describe what sufficient proof of purchase is. Sometimes you may need to provide more than one of these things to support your claim. However, as long as you can reasonably demonstrate that you purchased an item, a business may be breaking the law if it denies your right to a refund, repair or replacement for an item that fails to meet a consumer guarantee.

    • Thks. If I did have issues not finding the proper receipt I'm sure I could have argued my case as the bricked unit was no fault of my own. Also a loyal purchasers on their rewards, so would have gone to the manager if I didn't get anywhere.

  • Probably died out of shame?

    • Yeah hadn't used it alot, but as in the room where it was sitting and being at home thought I would play with it. That was a bad idea.

  • This happened to mine too, they sent me a new one like you so I didn't fuss about it too much though.

    • Was this recent. Did you end up updating the new one. Must be a fault. Did yours stop updating and didnt complete firmware update.
