I mainly play AAA Games on 1080p Ultra >60FPS (with 144hz Monitor) Although I may want to get into 1440p or VR in the future.
I don't plan on overclocking & don't want any RGB.
I'd prefer a quiet system where possible (I hate the noise of fans).
Looking for quality parts where possible (No "off-brand" products).
I know next gen CPU's/CPU's are coming soon, but I'll need to purchase before then :(

Comments / Questions:

CPU Cooler: Can't decide between Dark Rock Pro 4 / Hyper 212 EVO / Noctua NH-U12S
RAM: Which Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB Kit? I don't know what Speed, CL, Timings etc to get
Mobo: Looking for B550 recommendations; ATX or Smaller. Doesn't need Wifi
GPU: 2070 Super / 1660 Super / 1660 Ti? 2070S seems like the best choice for the future
PSU: Any alternatives to EVGA G3 that are high-quality?

Any other feedback or suggestions would be great.

Thanks for your help.

EDIT Thanks for the help so far. I've updated basically all the parts as mentioned the comments below.

  • HI, I did a Ryzen 3700x / B450M Mortar Max / G.Skill Ripjaws V 32GB 3200MHz build recently, you may want to look into a larger M.2 depends what you can get on a good deal

I've got the Meshify C & Dark Rock Pro setup and happy with it, don't care about RGB either but did put one strip light in and one inside front mesh of case. The Dark Rock is cool takes up a lot of space but fits, just check ram height (and pcpartpicker). Actually got all silent wings (2x 140 front inlets, 1x 120mm rear & 1x 120 rear top exhausts.

Btw RTX 2070S seems like the sweet point, I got a MSI RTX 2060S cheap and plays fine @ 1440p.

  • B450 mobo is cheaper and should do the job.
Do you really need 970 evo over 860 evo? Difference is very marginal in real life.
If you want silent system, G3 550W won't be fanless during gaming. I got G3 650W on R5 2600+ GTX 1060 and the fan still spins. Consider getting 750W unit like these?

  • $199.90 for a Corsair RM850x atm on Amazon https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07GZJX2F1/ref=ppx_yo_d…

  • 2070S would not be a good choice in the current climate, they've stopped production of them as the new Ampere cars will be out in a month or two.

  • First recommendation would be to wait. ryzen 4000 is supposed to be coming out in September, apart from that an x470 if you need the extra SATA or b450 will be just fine, a 500 GB storage drive is going to fill up real quick these days, unfortunately, you'd be lucky to fit 5 AAA games on it. For Ryzen tighter timings are more important than speed I believe. Corsair and Silverstone make great PSUs whatever you get make sure it has a single 12v rail

    • He could get a ryzen compatible board and a cheaper ryzen 3000 now, ready to upgrade to the better 4000 later. Then sell the old ryzen 3000. The better boards are compatible aren't they?

      • It's kinda up in the air whether or not the manufacturer release an updated bios for your particular motherboard, it's why I haven't done exactly that.

  • Does that motherboard really only have one M.2 connector on it? Mine has two. One runs at full speed and the other at a gimped (but still fast) speed. So I put my faster 2TB Sabrent Rocket in the fast slot, and 1TB Crucial P1 in the slower slot because the speeds basically matched anyway. This leaves me with six on board sata ports so I can make my own ultimate streaming service at home. I put OneDrive on the P1 and also the downloads folder for browser and desktop files and stuff. Everything else goes on the Rocket making sure to leave at least 600GB free for scratch disc for Adobe.

  • You could swap out both hard drives for a 1tb nvme drive. Silicon power one on amazon for $155 shipped 2200/1600MB/s. Save $50 gain 250gb hard drive space? Or they have 3,400/3,000MB/s for $227. I got the faster one for about $180 I think a year ago. Other options for 1tb nvme drives like this as well

  • not sure how to edit my post but Western Digital Blue 1TB NVMe M.2 SSD 2400/1950MB/s $179 shipped at centrecom would be a good option for storage. Looks to have very good reviews from what i can see.

New nvidia cards being announced, wouldn't hurt to hold off on gpu purchases

    • was about to say the same thing
