Compact(ish) mono laser printer with 3 trays for home office?

Hi All,

Looking for a mono laser with ideally 3 trays, as we print a bunch of shipping labels etc that need different stock.

It's a difficult thing to search for, and sites like brother don't have this as a filter option, so looking for some help!

Ideally compact - the height ideally below 38cm to fit in my home office.

thanks!

As far as I know, impossible. Not a chance in the world of getting that under 38cm in one printer…

Most laser printers have one main tray, and an optional front/back manual feed input for special media. Some models may have the option of adding an additional second tray, but models that let you add a third tray tend to be significantly more expensive.

Most compact solution is likely to be three compact brother mono laser printers side by side. A big portion of the height of a printer is the paper tray — compact models compromise on height as they only hold 150-250 sheets, rather than a full ream.

    • lol, thanks - yeah I thought I was dreaming! I've found a bother that has 2 trays, and just squeeze in - https://www.brother.com.au/en/products/all-printers/printers…

      no need for scanner/fax/copy.

if there's anything else I should be considering I'm all ears!

That only has one tray, and the secondary manual feed I talked about. To have two trays, you would need to also purchase the optional second tray kit, either LT-5500 (250 sheets) or LT-6500 (500 sheets/1 ream).

        • thanks for bringing this to my attention, I hadn't understood that correctly. Awaiting a callback from a brother sales person, see what that can offer. but yeah, don't like my chances at all!

  • Have a look at Kyocera's P2040DN - Cheaper genuine toner than Brother and much longer life drum (100,000 page).

    According to Kyocera specs the dimensions of the P2040DN are: 375mm x 393mm x 272mm (W x D x H) - approx 14 kg

Adding a PF-1100 would give you a 2nd cassette tray, and using the MP Tray as the third tray might fit your requirements.

According to HT the PF-1100 is 100mm tall (brining the total to 372mm and just under your 38cm)

Obviously would be a tight fit and you would need to confirm for yourself.

PF-1100 only has 250 sheet capacity and is almost as expensive as the printer.

    • Thanks, I'll look into this.

As it turns out the need for additional trays is for printing labels along with existing need to print documents. Might look at keeping my existing printer and getting a label printer. a single tray/type of stock might do the job (fingers crossed).
