Mymobile.com.au Import Direct and Taxes

I bought a Mobile(over $1000) from them a couple of days ago, their sales page said shipping express from HK, their price includes GST.

Today, they send me an email saying they are processing my order and said i might be charged import taxes and duty by the customs…and If i wanted to cancel my order there will be a fee at this stage.

Their Terms and conditions page on Import Direct product says "Pricing of Import Direct products is listed in Australian dollars and include any applicable taxes such as GST"

Just wondering on whats happening, anyone here have any previous experience with them?

If your shipment is marked more than $1000 - yes, GST, duty and govt charge of $80-88 will apply. Someone will call you to have this paid for. Some courier like DHL even charge you $20 as again for processing fees.

Keep screen shots from the website which claim your purchase price includes all relevant taxes. Your options probably boil down to:
    * Seek full refund now, arguing that you are unwilling to pay extra to receive your item
    * Refuse delivery if extra fees are requested and seek refund (based on the original listing which says price includes taxes)
    * Pay any extra fees requested to receive your item and seek compensation from the seller

  • Only reason I went with My mobile is because their website says prices are inclusive of taxes.

Other websites like Toby and buybuybox has the same item for a lot less.

I have asked for a explanation and requested a refund.
I paid through PayPal, hope I can dispute if they don't respond.

  • How did this turn out, did they end up charging you?

    • Just got my phone today. No extra charges.

But they remained silent until now. No replies to my emails or calls.

Got my phone, everything's good .

      • I've just ordered from them, so I'm in the same boat. Did they ever request for you to pay customs fees?
