Taubmans Trade Paint

Has anyone had experience using the trade pro or tradex range by Taubmans. Wanting to paint the interior of my house on a budget. This paint if more than half of the price of the top of the line paint. How does it compare? Is it worth the saving?

It's a lower range product. Just like anything else that is cheaper, it's lesser quality.

It's not to say you can't use it. It just has less coverage, will be more difficult to clean over time, may also be a bit rougher feel than your other low sheen products.

You could get a sample pot and see how it looks on a section and compare it with an Easy Coat Low Sheen for comparison.

Tradex for ceiling is fine as well.

    • Thanks for the advice. Any thoughts on Bristol easy living?

Taubmans and Bristol are owned by the same company, if easy living is similar price to Tradex expect similar results/performance.

There's nothing wrong with the Tradex porduct. It's designed exactly for what you're looking at, basic paint jobs on a budget. Despite what some might say there is a difference in paints. A top shelf paint will have better coverage, longevity, mould resistance etc. Is it twice as good though? As long as you understand that you won't be disappointed.

      • Not sure about the easy living. Never used it.

Do you have a taubmans trade centre near you? Prices might be slightly cheaper compared to bunnings, depending on product. You might also be able to score old labelled cans for a discount. Same paint just different labels.

Go to a local paint store and get some Haymes. I found it much nicer than the other brands

You're not going to get Haymes for the same price as Tradex.

    • Haymes is crap, not worth the crave about, very diffucult to work with, and mess everywhere. Dulux win anytime.

  • I just repainted the house and used Tradex for everywhere but the bathrooms. You need to use better paint for the moister and humidity

We have young kids so not point over capitalizing on wall paint, when it gets marked almost instantly.

I used Tradex and regretted it, ended up using a lot more paint and having to do an extra coat than I would have had I used a decent paint.
The person in Bunnings warned me about it but i went ahead anyway
