  • Nice find :)

  • Got one. Thanks. Watch the flippers go nuts.

    • There are a few for $330 on ebay and after fees you might be left with $30 profit. Or do people hold onto these for a few years then sell for double?

      • Quick sell on Facebook marketplace or gumtree at RRP will net small profit.

Or else put in storage until it retires and sell for $$$

        • Or else put in storage until it retires and sell for $$$

Not necessarily. If you've been following BL prices, UCS and Creator Expert lines have much longer runs, ever since about Parisian Cafe. The 'new' DSII is barely selling above retail, Falcon has been deeply discounted and still on sale, etc. Will take a very long time to generate profit.

  • And just like that, gone.

  • Suggested title edit for OP..

Add in rrp somewhere because people may think its 20% off $263 :)

  • How did you find that? I can't find it on the site or via search, but the link works?

    • +1

I couldn’t get it either via the search.

I’ve previously lucked out using brickhawk to get an assembly square from target. The link on the brickhawk website worked but it couldn’t be searched from the target website itself.

    • I'm also curious how the OP found the original link, as it is not listed anywhere.

    • Just sort from high to low on the Lego category page. The page disappears shortly after selling out. At first the Add to Cart button disappears and then the whole page does.

      • But the page still exists on David Jones, bu you can't search or find it anyway without knowing the the direct url.

I realized OP got it from BrickHawk.

BrickHawk must have some backend connection to the retailers' listings.

        • I have now realised that the OP is the creator of BrickHawk.

How do you get the David Jones listings?

  • Doesn't look like you can add it to the cart.. sold out?? Could be old link.

  • That didn't last long. Now if you "Add to bag" it's giving "Sorry, this colour / size combination is not currently available."

I think I'm just going to turn off my email UCS alert and sit on the search page hitting refresh every 15 seconds….

I’ve recently joined the LEGO craze in this lockdown. Everything expensive LEGO has been selling out, even at full price !?! Is this a normal thing? Or a COVID pandemic thing?

    • +1

This tends to be the case for either the adult-oriented sets such as this (UCS = Ultimate Collector Series), more expensive Technic sets (primarily the supercars/large construction vehicles), Lego Creator Expert (fully-built 'modular' buildings, old school cars like the F40 Ferrari), new waves (mainly Star Wars, as a fan myself) and of course highly desired sets like the Star Wars 501st Battlepack which released with the latest wave - this set has been requested for many years.

Tl;dr by my observations as a fan, any set priced above the $150 mark will be targetted towards collectors/adults and will most likely be highly desired.

    • Is this a normal thing? Or a COVID pandemic thing?

Lego always has had strong world wide demand but Covid definitely threw some fuel on the fire .

  • Last weeks sales it was a tad cheaper at $254.

    • Which deal was that?

      • That was the members-only offer, $75 off $300+ spent. You had to signup to the their Rewards program and opt in to marketing to then see the offer.

  • The big expensive sets probably last a max of 15mins on DJ site. Missed out on many but also was lucky to get some like the Treehouse 😁

    • God damn it, the Tree house was up?

      • Oh a few weeks ago and probably for a split second. In fact there's been other sets like Downtown Diner that have been up. Also Batmobile and I think the UCS Star Destroyer

      • Not that I saw - I think they meant in the past they picked up the treehouse.

If you already have a brickhawk account, you can trial availability alerts - they are pretty effective at alerting you to when stock becomes available.

  • There's one left in stock at Elizabeth St Syd if that's helpful to anyone

  • +1

This completes my UCS X-Wing, B-Wing, Slave and Tie Fighter set :)

    • Nice line-up there but you're missing the UCS Snowpeeder to really complete your entry-level UCS collection.

  • I gave DJs Elizabeth St a call to see if I could place a phone order for it and they said they'd check to see if any of the A-Wing stock on hold for previous orders had been freed up due to cancellations.

Might be a long shot, but I'll post back if they have any.

    • Lol I didn't think its worth that much effort .
In my books the key word retiring 75181 Y Wing landed around $230 and they had large stocks was a total different class :)
Already over $400 overseas , still plenty here in Oz due to Myers .

      • In any case, I just received confirmation from them; the A-Wing's sold out and they likely won't be receiving more stock anytime soon.

  • Online order cancelled… Was looking forward to my first UCS build!
