Lenovo - ThinkPad E15 Vs IdeaPad 5

recently purchased a thinkpad e15 (1005 -> 804) during the 20% off sale. but its come to my attention that the ideapad 5 (1100 -> 880) would have been a better choice at only an extra $76.

ive missed out on the chance of getting a discounted ideapad but im wondering if it would be worth returning the thinkpad and forking out an extra $100 to get the ideapad.

I would keep it unless its really a showstopper for a daily use .

  • theres a 20% restocking fee on refunds :'''''(

What do you use it for? For me I'll keep the ThinkPad, because

    • Extra SO-DIMM slot for RAM upgrade later
    • Ethernet port
    • ThinkPad keyboard & TrackPoint

It's also far easier to find maintenance manual for ThinkPad if you need to take apart to replace / upgrade parts.

    • daily driver.

better screen, better battery, more storage, better ports and otherwise identical everywhere else should have been a no brainer, but i got on to the 20% sale late
      so i rushed.

      • The screen is better but not by much and you can chuck an extra nvme in the e15 so storage isn’t significant either. Biggest diff is battery, if it actually results in longer operating time. And ports as you’ve highlighted.

  • Is WVA inferior to IPS though? In another thread here there is a discussion re whether they are the same thing
