LG G7 Thinq - Same quad DAC?

Hi, I am thinking of getting this phone for listening to music (as a digital audio player). Currently available for $449. I am confused about all the different phones LG have and for which ones are recommended for driving headphones. Is this one okay? Have tried to google, but have just confused myself more.

Thanks
Tim

  • Why not just get a dedicated dac for cheaper? Any base level dedicated dac will run rings around the LG quad dac.

People don't want to be carrying around an external DAC, would prefer it to be inbuilt

They will sound exactly the same in blind listening tests like almost all modern DACs after 70 years of sampling theory being fully understood.

      Amp will make a difference.

      • Eventually I want to get a home listening set up with amp etc. at a desk, but that's not really logistically possible in my current apartment shared with wife and daughter. If we ever move to a bigger place, I would love to have a space for a desk or home listening area.

      • A dedicated DAC will probably sound better because a modern smart phone includes 70 years of cost cutting as well as (relatively) high power CPU and RF circuitry.

    • I had a dragonfly red, but have lost it somewhere, which is one of the reasons a dongle doesn't really attract me. Are you saying something like the dragonfly is better than the in built tech in a lot of LG phones? I read they were pretty good.

  • EarStudio HUD100 with any phone

I bought an LG G7 One for $170 used. Comes with the same DAC with the latest updates.
