There have been a few good pro audio deals from Amazon UK of late, and here's another for the audio engineers among us.

Large diaphragm, multi-pattern condenser microphone. I'm a big fan of the AKG C414 XLS, so keen to try this one out. It'll handle pretty much anything you throw at it. Compared to the C414 XLS, the XLII model has a presence boost to help vocals and instruments cut through the mix (or your Zoom/Teams calls if you're so inclined).

Full details on the AKG website

The best local price I can see is $1967 at Store DJ, so pretty close to 50% off.

Enjoy!

  • Is this better than Shure SM7B?

    • +6

      I'm shure it is.

Depends what you want to do with it.

The SM7B requires quite a bit of gain, and can stretch some mic preamps.

You'd generally only use the SM7B for close mic'ing instruments/voices, whereas the C414s can work for both close and distance mic'ing (including the range of stereo techniques if you have two of them).

    It looks ugly.

Great mic for people getting into podcasting and YouTube.

    • I think this heavily overqualifies, a blue yeti should do justice for beginners.

Thanks OP. This is an excellent price. Looks like this qualifies for 4% cashback too.

  • Wow. Someone got to be getting lots of YouTube monies to be able to justify in getting one of these toys.

    Only pros need to apply?

    • I thinks this is over the top for a broadcasting mic — its more for a music recording studio level. Pricewise, this is on the lower end of studio condensers. If you want a shock, google Neumann U67 :) .
