Credit Card for Overseas Puchases

Hi all, a fairly specific question here so unsure anyone will have the answer. I'm looking at opening a 28degrees card (which have loved in he past) with the primary purpose being online purchases from overseas in foreign currency. I know it will fullfil this purpose so box ticked.

The second purpose is to transfer GBP using Revolut to an overseas mate to buy things for me. I fear this second purpose may constitute a cash advance but am unsure.. has anyone done just this?

Lastly, I think there was a Citi card that used to be recommended for travel too which allowed you to have in credit and withdraw at ATM? I know 28deg used to do this too and thinking if overseas travel is ever again on the table this would be handy.

Cheers!

  • For Citibank, it’s the Citibank plus transaction debit card that has no international fees. You can withdraw at overseas Citibank atms for free.

For credit cards, try Bankwest platinum. No international fees, no annual fees, no minimum spend, but no points (tradeoff with no annual fee). Can’t help you with that revolut question

Why don't you just register for Revolut in Australia and then transfer GBP to your friend in the UK. Other option is Transferwise borderless account.

    ING Orange Everyday Card
They would waive the international transaction fee and international ATM withdrawal fees if you can make $1000+ deposits and 5 completed transactions monthly.
