  • Since they're both a similar price, I'd get the Quest over the Rift for versatility.

    Wireless is a gamechanger.

Isn't the game library severely limited with the quest though?

I believe that’s the Oculus Go.

You can plug Quest into your PC now, as well as use the Quest library for wireless playing

  • Thanks, OP!

    • No worries mate :)

Lots of people are having problems getting Rift S working. You are most likely buying a returned repackaged items.
If you google, so many people are having USB and display port connection problem with the headset. Some people claimed to resolve it with a specific chipset PCI-E USB card, expensive USB 3 cable, or RTX GPU. None works for me.
If you want to take the risk, make sure you test it out straight away once received. Oculus/facebook is focusing on Quest now and they are not putting resources supporting Rift S.

    • Hopefully my quite up to date PC should handle it - just built a new one with last gen (2019) intel core cpu, 1650super and 16G RAM.

Reason for not getting the quest is the comfort level - I'm a PSVR user and I really like the halo design, I watched a lot of youtube reviews ppl were all complaining about how the quest was front heavy and how you can not play more than half an hour.

I play beat saber on the PSVR for 2 hours straight, and I can't imagine having a front heavy headset that'll kill my neck in 30 minutes …

Let's see how we go. Fingers crossed.

      • Same with me. Replacing PSVR with Oculus.
My friend has just received his Rift S yesterday from Amazon and says he has no issues at all. He has 2060 CPU, I believe.

What mentioned there is very true, exactly what I am having.
The fix mentioned there is to do firmware downgrade etc, which no longer works.

Mine has i7, 2080, 32GB RAM. I don't think it is machine hardware related.
With so many people complaining, I am sure it is headset and firmware/software problem that
          Oculus doesn't want to admit.

Get the Quest instead. Don't waste time and money. You will regret getting Rift S.
