Just picked up this pretty sweet deal on the HyperX Cloud Flight S and thought I would share. Couldn't find anything close to this price for the new version of this headset!

The older model is also available from Amazon US for a good (but not all time low) price of $200.88: Cloud Flight

  • I have the Hyper X Cloud IIs, how do these compare audio quality-wise? Wireless isn't a massive thing for me, I've got a pair of wireless Turtle Beaches that always die mid-game.

These can go cabled too if you are worried about that. I have HyperX Cloud 2 and my mate has the flight S. I tried the flight S and it sounds fantastic, nothing wrong with it. Just like the cloud 2's it has huge amounts of bass, otherwise they are exactly the same.

      • +2

Be aware that only the Cloud Flight can go cabled!! The Cloud Flight S loses the 3.5mm jack so is wireless only.

      • Agreed. I've got a pair of Turtle Beach cans to use with the Xbox and if they ever start to die it just means I have to adjust my seat closer to the console so I can plug in. Works a treat. The main problem I had was searching the house to find a Micro-USB cable that was long enough, I ended up getting a 2m one off eBay for next to nothing.

        • I hope the new xbox copies old playstations and has the stupid headphone jack in the controller!

          • @onlinepred: All the coverage thus far is saying peripherals won't be backwards-compatible, so if this is the case then wired headsets should still at least be useable for sound and possibly the mic, too. On one hand I'm bummed because it means I'll need to get a new headset and controller. On the other hand, the OzBargainer in me is going, "Sweet! I get to shop for new peripherals!"

            • @Chazzozz: I'm so used to just plugging any headset, or phone earbuds and using them for mic/sound on playstation. When I got xbox, it felt like I went back in time. So strange.

Turtle beaches (elite atlas) are rebranded sonys, and hyperx are rebranded t80s (6 years old). Turtle beaches are slightly superior in terms of sound quality. Both can be used as headphones and not just as a “headset” (basically just a mic stuck onto a headphone). Turtle beaches have a high quality build mic and a more solid build. Can also be worn in public more without crazy “gaming headset” decals. Which one has the better sound scape or imaging I am not too sure, possibly equal. Courtesy of Zeos / Z reviews.

I very recently bought the elite atlas from amazon for 145. Virtually impossible to buy 2nd hand ones on eBay or gumtree from AU. New like 2nd hand HyperXs (not the flight - basically means wireless) are very easy to find on gumtree for as low as 80. Good luck

I painted the single side of my hyper x cloud 2 black covering the one logo. They look great IMO, very ordinary, turtle beaches are far more easily recognisable as gaming headsets with slightly odd design. Comparative prices the turtle beaches lose. I don't know if you have actually own these clouds? The detachable mic is high quality, not sure what was wrong with yours?

      • Yes the cloud ii are excellent. The mic is excellent. Cannot wear them in public as it looks stupid. Lightweight and not solid in build.

        • +1

You can wear them in public, I mean if you are vain enough or worried about what people might think, although I still can't understand why. Like I said, my cloud 2s are the same size as my beyer 880, t80, or any other big speaker headphone. I got smaller speaker headphones like h9i, xm3, etc which are also bulky and IMO don't look substantially better.

      • Painting it black would solve it completely, that’s true, and wearable absolutely in public no problem. Did you spray paint it? In that case, the elite atlas would be the much more awkward ones to wear. (And the GSP600 are just ridiculous to wear in public like a black halo.)

I used plastidip as not to be permanent.

  • Turtle beaches have a much higher quality constructed mic — was not comparing mic sound quality — probably are equal. Turtle beaches have a much more solid build also.

Both are superior in terms of sound quality to any of the Sennheiser gaming headsets (GSP 600, game one, game zero) as tempting as it may be to believe otherwise since they’re Sennheisers.

Superlux 668 headphones (no mic) is known for its excellent soundscape probably superior to the above two — for around $110-150 AUD I will be buying a pair to compare to the elite atlas.

Better than any of the above are the Philips Fidelio X2 / X2HR but cost $250 - 400 (new like 2nd hand to new). I will be buying a pair of these later on to compare.

    • Fidelio x2 is open back mate, only good for entirely quiet environments. Entirely different. Also wired.

      • That’s true. But sound comes out from both types of design and sound quality in the end is the most important feature. Sound quality should be compared to in its own right. Of course there are external preferences etc but sound quality in the end has the last say which is all I am considering.

        • +1

How are you measuring sound quality? Sound signatures are entirely subjective, and has nothing to do with sound quality. I think you mean that you like the sony signature better, which in general has much less bass, and much higher treble.

Open back will in general give you a much wider soundstage, I use open backs for critical listening, I would never use it for gaming though.

And just FYI, cheap sennheisers have never been any good, so I'm not sure why people would believe otherwise. Turtle beach headphones are the same plasticy build, but most wireless ones like stealth 600/700 do feel less solid than the cloud flights and are obviously far more bulky and have blue highlights which make their appearance worse IMO.

Anyway, good luck with your future headphone endevours!

I have these headphone - They are great! There much better then my Arctis 7's that I orginally had. There more bassier. For me on the PC and PS4 these are the best. Super functional
