Home Loan Bank Reference Rate Tracker

Hi Oz Team,

tl;dr Looking for a rate tracker of banks mortgage reference rate

While grabbing my interest summary for the year I noted the advertised rate for my loan package has dropped. After digging through many, far too many bank, pages I see the bank has dropped the reference rate too and confirm this has not been passed onto my account.

Now, of course, as a good bargainer I will be calling the bank during business hours tomorrow. But I was annoyed that I had missed this drop and not had it passed on. And could not find a clear resource that showed when it dropped other than to know it happened between now and may when I last phoned and got my rate dropped. I feel many banks are just fancy law bending loan sharks - have to earn a living somehow - so I'm well used to having to chase them up for a better rate.

This leads us to my thought that there should be a reference bank interest rate tracker out there (like camelcamelcamel, maybe sharksharkshark?) but 30 minutes of googling and trolling OzB have not been fruitful. Anyone know of one or want to work on one? ideally complete with alerts like camelcamelcamel? I'm sure a this would be awesome fodder for broker referral revenue it it existed.

Cheers,
L

  • There's been one for ages.

    RBA statistics.

    https://www.rba.gov.au/statistics/tables/xls/f06hist.xls?v=2…

    • Indeed there this, I did not know about it. Howbeit that link shows aggregate statistics.

Does not appear to track the reference rates at individual banks that variable rate accounts are supposed to be tied to.

      • Info from individual banks is a DIY job. They report to APRA but this is not available publicly..
