As a newbie when it comes to purchasing international versions of phones, is there anything I need to be aware of? Can I just find the phone I like on TobyDeals and it will work here in Australia? Will the phone work on any network here, and will the phone come with an Australian charger?

Also if grey import most likely no warranty hence why you gamble with the discounted price from local. I think someone one posted that say Asus laptops has an international warranty. It's the risk you take. Fine if product doesn't have issues.
Expect 1 - 2 month wait, if any earlier is a bonus and always use PayPal.
Many have received them within 2 weeks.

Tell us what phone you want to buy and go from there.
Buying from any overseas seller usually means you get a great price but with no warranty, contrary to what they say.
Even warranty from local sellers can be impossible to use.
No idea which phone yet - I've just seen that their prices are low.
Try price beating at Officeworks as they’ve price matched Toby deals before for me.
Just be careful with Toby Deals, ordered a tablet from them for my son, and it never arrived, was in a long argument with them in regards to getting a refund, as Aramex was saying they lost it, but Toby Deals refused to believe them, in the end got a refund through Amex.

So ordered on 04/Aug and received on 19/Aug. Phone is great and is as described so far. I hope no problems arise given the numerous complaints about customer service and warranty. But holy crap for $311 this phone sure feels like a steal.

Do u get VoLTE on it, if you use a compatible operator?
Maybe before you buy from them message them to ensure they actually have the stock in before purchasing.
Bought a phone from TobyDeals early August and it is now lost in the hands of DPEX/Toll. I'm left with an open dispute on PayPal.
It will work here look at the bands it covers if you live in cities 99% should be fine , if you are in the country look for phones with band 28 to get more coverage
Most come with a charger that will work here out of box
