Bed Linen Too Cheap to Be True?

Linen Dreams on ebay are selling 50/50 duck down quilts and thick heavy wool blankets for $50 at 70% off.
Given materials are the same, how can quality really be determined from branding for instance.
Kogan are also selling down sheets at 82% off for $30-50.

On that note, with sheets.
How does 100% cotton 400tc sateen from kmart $50 and sheridan $200 compare? Would they be identical? Theres quite the large price discrepancy.

  • I have some K-Mart sheets (An OzBargain deal from 2018 - $20 a set IIRC) and $75 Sheridan sheets. The K-Mart are more than acceptable but the Sheridan are definitely nicer. The Sheridans get put on when I have company coming over. ;-P

It depends what you like but I'm not a fan of 1000+ thread count. In order to achieve it the threads have to be thinner. If you like that crisp, thick hotel feel then 400 count seems to work better (subjective opinion).

    • thanks brad, thats just the answer im looking for reg sheets, appreciate it.

I wouldn't trust the markdown percentages especially from Kogan. The "full price" is always over inflated and never actually sold at that price

      Can always check on PriceHipster?

      • Yeah that's a good way to see what the usual price is

        • wow thanks guys thats great advice

  • I have a Linen Dreams quilt, it's alright. It is what it claims to be. Bedding is very subjective so it's hard to tell.
This sort of thing never sells at regular price, sale price is the real price.

    • thank you, that puts my mind at ease :)

Similar to clothing. Quality of materials, production methods, quality control, customer service, and ethical behaviour. As a result of those + marketing and price, brands develop reputations.
