CFSPORTS2020

Received by email this morning. Salomon are jumping on the Click Frenzy train and offering some pretty good pricing on shoes and trail running gear.

Sizing is limited, but not excessively - I got shoes for a 9 UK foot, so it's not all gnomes and sasquatch sizes out there.

Edit: You can get an additional 10% discount using the code CFSPORTS2020

  • Awesome - thanks OP! I've been waiting for a deal to replace my XA Pro 3Ds; I live in them!

You must be more towards the "gnome" side of the scale. :)

  • No XA Pro 3D in Gore-Tex as I need some decent waterproof shoes, and some of the deals aren't that great compared to previous sales. Bummer.

I'm still in the camp of non waterproof shoes - GTX shoes are great until you get water inside them, then it's less than ideal. I grabbed a pair of speedcross 4s and supercross to try out.

I need to have another go test fitting the more "hiking" oriented shoes, as that's my main use case more than trail running, but I loved the fit of the speedcross when I tried them, and loathed the Sense.

Fair point. I just wanted waterproof jogger shoes as I spend time on wet grass in the morning. Not sure if the non gore-tex would be a better alternative though.

I'm hoping to use them on some 3-5 day hikes, were the ability to drain and sweat is more important to me than keeping out splashes of water - but I can see how GTX would be handy for running on dewy grass too.

I would honestly not bother with waterproof running shoes what-so-ever.

They do make a speedcross 4/5 GTX if that tickles you but if you are running or walking where water can get onto your legs or over the gusset/tongue of the shoe (wet grass, 4-5 cm puddles) you will have wet feet that stay wet.

If you are walking for less than an hour in mild conditions (not raining but frosts/puddles) then the GTX flavours will probably suffice assuming you clean them frequently, and yes you really do need to clean the membranes frequently to actually make them work.

I had a pair of Salomon's boot that lasted about 8 years! They were super comfortable and indestructible!

I remember being knee deep in mud at Wacken Open Air, and they came out sparkling afterwards haha

Probably a super niche subset of ozbargain but the soft flasks are well priced (for Australia at least).

Pretty sure all Salomon flasks are now subcontracted to Hydrapak however they aren't the very newest material as I think Ultimate Direction might have exclusive rights to it for now?

    • I'm not sure how quality compares but I'm happy with aonijie branded flasks which are generally a cheaper alternative.

      • Its probably comparable with the Salomon flasks.

But the newer PEEVA material flasks are far superior IMO and there isn't many companies that are allowed to make them.

        https://ultimatedirection.com/body-bottle-ii-500/

Its more durable and also doesn't grip things so less likely to catch and get holes.

Not sure what the issue with the lid is because I have zero issues with mine.

thanks mate, saved me the trouble

    • Booyah! They are refunding me the difference after I asked nicely. :D

  • for hiking in snow or rugged terrain like in Iceland or Himalayas, are the GTX variant from Salomon better or should I look at Kathmandu?

Thanks bought 2 pairs for the price I paid for my X ultras a couple years ago. Love the shoes but they are not as durable as Id expect at this price point. Getting them at 40% off certainly makes them more appealing

got a 15% off code (QT75GMC9) from Salomon email. not sure if it's targeted but no harm in trying though…
