Opinion about Kogan

Hi All OzBargainers,

I am planning to buy ipad2 and found that they are a bit cheaper at kogan.com.au as compared to other resellers e.g. bigw. Is there a catch in buying from Kogan e.g. grey import, seconds etc that anyone is aware of. Any feedback/opinion is more than welcome.

Thanks in advance,
Sean.

I've bought from Kogan, they give you a FedEx tracking number, didn't have any issues really.

    • thanks Kaushik.

  • Yep, Kogan is reliable

They have had many great post on Ozbargain

They only small blunder was this, however unlike other business's THEY HONOURED the successful transactions

    • thanks good to know, I read somewhere that they dont provide invoice which reflects gst inclusion. Is that correct? I am flying overseas in 2 weeks and want to claim gst on the purchase.

Hi b_sean, see my reply to your other post on this: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/55247
The iPads, Cameras and phones are all imported from the Kogan Hong Kong operation. Any items that are valued at under $1000 do not have GST or any other import duties applied (which is why they can do them so cheap), so you would not be able to claim GST even if an invoice was provided.

        • thanks xlr8.

        • yep thats tru..but that fact makes me think that if Kogan and other oz retailer ( who charges 10 GST) sell the same stuff at same price then Kogan is charging more profit as it need not to pay the GST back to govt….just my thought :-))

        • @ozshan lol… That made absolutely no sense to me…

        • @ozshaz Which would be why Kogan aren't selling anywhere near to the prices on shelves in OZ. They seem to be a helluva lot cheaper on all of it, and by a lot more than the 10% GST.
e.g. Canon 10-22mm lens from Kogan is $689. I walked into my local Harvey Norman, they had it at $1199! (seriously!) and even Ted Camera House is at $950. Even the cheapest Ebay seller (from Hong Kong) was $740, with most in the high $700's and $800's.

  • I'm wanting to purchase the 64gb 3g iPad from Kogan, how does the 1 year international warranty work (i.e. is it the apple warranty)?

  • Don't you think the Ipad 2 price will come down this Christmas?
