Click Energy Bill Shock - What's The Most Efficient Way to Address It

Hi my electricity bill used to be $9.315 daily. Click energy estimated a 25% reduction if I switch, but the first bill they sent me has increased 30% instead, which is $12 daily. What's the most efficient way to address this problem, given that my time also costs money I hope there is a way not to tango too long with a rep.

There is a plausible increase in consumption because A/C is turned on more often during the last 3 months, and the use of A/C is largely on shoulder time (I wasn't aware of shoulder - though it was peak / off-peak). nevertheless, the increase is questionable.

Thanks!

  • Did you usage increase? There should be detailed usage info on your bills.

Why are you asking OP? It costs time/money.

I want to know who OP is billing their out of work hours to. Or maybe I got it wrong and this is for OP’s work and needs to be completed on work time?

        Either way…

Not even enough time/money to respond to their own post.

        • Wonder if OP has "addressed" the issue. Keen to learn the outcome…

Make sure you compare it with the same quarter last year and also take into consideration any potential new wfh arrangements.

  • Keep a copy of your bill from last and current supplier and then check things out with a comparison site or similar. Thats too much per day, is it a business?

  • Unless they gave you a written guarantee that your bill would reduce by 25% there is very little that you can do. They just gave you an estimate and estimates aren't worth anything.

They might (after a lot of arguing) waive any early termination charges, so you can change your plan, or move to some other provider.

If you don't have any early termination charges, they they might move you to another plan, if that might suit your usage patterns better.

If you don't have any early termination charges & tell them you're leaving for another provider, then they might possibly offer you something like a 10% or 20% additional discount, to stay.

But there's very little you can do about your past bill (other than paying it).

Share your usage (in kWh), usage rates ($/kWh) and your supply charge ($/day) for the two bills thx.

The first issue is that you may of changed suppliers just because of a percentage discount, not lower kWh rate or supply charge etc.

Compare your usage in kWh to a previous year's bill. Calling up might achieve a larger discount. I don't see it happening if you've used more power though.

A/C is the most energy hungry thing in most people's houses, if you are using that more in the last three months then a >30% increase in consumption is not unusual at all.

  • A/C on in brisbane this time of the year? Doesn't make sense to me

  • It's Click Energy. Just google their accc case.

  • I moved to Click a few weeks back. By far the cheapest for my area and usage.
