Coles Do Things Differently Now Re: Delivery Fee

I wonder if Coles do their delivery charges differently… I got over $200 shopping shopped and they didn't have the eye fillet packet… so my order came in under $200 (a few dollars) and they charged me $12 for shopping. Not complaining. Just wondering if they didn't have the item/s they charge you for the shipping if they missing that $200 amount for free shipping.

Not sure of the change/policy, but if you ordered $200+ worth of items to get free shipping and then they couldn't fulfil those items causing you to go under $200, then in my books that delivery cost should be covered by them, as you did your part, they failed to deliver.

    huh?
order under $199.99 pay for shipping.
order over $200 get free shipping.

the free shipping limit is on your items not on the total amount.

    • Yes but the “quote” on the cart page would’ve indicated that OP would get free shipping so I’d think (like JimmyF said above) that they’d waive the delivery fee.

      • ok, i had $xx credit due to non delivery/wrong delievery of items..last order.. I didn't look at the cart if i got free shipping.

        • but my total shop was $225..

unfullfilled items back that back to 197.xx

What you're suggesting sounds like very poor business practice. If you order $200+ worth of stuff, then free shipping should be applicable. The fact they can't fulfill enough of the order keep it over $200 shouldn't be your problem.

Its very easy. Its happened to me.

Just message them on facebook messenger/email. Include your Name, Email, mobile number (thats on record for verification) and the invoice number or a copy of the invoice.

Be polite, and explain to them that your intentions were to reach 200 dollars for free delivery, and they're very accomodating. Nothing to worry about.

Woolies on the other hand…. At least the one in my area, seem to always miss at least 2 items in the grocery bag, and still charge me. And then they take forever to refund.

I shopped recently and I was not charged . I also checked my credit card transaction and it says $194.

BTW its useless due to this unavailability issue. I still had to go to Coles and buy missing items . what's the point ?

    • i've shopped 25 times. this is my first time this happened

      • this is totally unfair . if they want to do this then give customer a chance to pick anything else or cancel the order altogether . $12 hit is significant .

I can curse here but bloody ….

I've had this happen with Amazon once, they cancelled my item which brought the total under $39 so they charged delivery fee.
A quick chat with the rep and they refunded the postage cost. Have a chat with Coles and explain the situation, they should refund the postage cost

  • Yes, I've had this before too. I ordered in good faith and spent enough to cover the delivery fee and when they couldn't supply it they charged the fee. Not really happy about using the service because the fee is really high.

  • I wonder if this charge is made automatically by the system just the way it deducts shipping/delivery cost when you go over the required amount. So that is why you have to speak to a human to fix it.

    • Not sure they hire those anymore. I was there last time in store, they had one human and 6 unmanned checkouts.
