I need to upgrade my ram for MSFS

  • That’s pretty good price

Ryzen needs to start supporting 10 RAM DIMMs. So many good RAM deals, not enough slots.

    no, no, I REALLY shouldn't get 64GB of ram… yet…

Good thinking… Zen3's sweet spot is going to be 4000Mhz or 4200Mhz DDR4 because the IF is being bumped up with zen3 to handle faster speeds..
This will have the greatest impact on gaming more so then anything else.

I thought 16 gb was enough for me and was arguing that 32 gb is not required but this overclocks really good and rgb will push it more so got it :)

    • I have this kit but havent overclocked it yet. What settings are you using for overclocking/timings?

Get Thaiphoon Burner to extract your ram info, then import the data into Ryzen DRAM calculator by 1usmus.

        • I heard about that. I will check it out. Thanks

I just got this so just going by reviews..
        I do have 2 x 8 gb ballistix non rgb 3200mhz and using oc'ed to 3600mhz cl16
You will have to use the dram calculator and test it out

        • No problem. Nice to have a ballpark of the potential I should be able to run at though. Thanks.

    • What do you mean by RGB will push it more? sorry for sounding like a noob 😃👍

      • it flashes different colours. it has inbuilt LEDs.

      • I haven't followed this "meme" as such but the posts I have seen on RGB RAM, I think it's along the lines of the "red cars go faster" logic.

        YMMV

  • I'm looking for new RAMs for my laptop. How do I tell whether they are for Desktop or Laptop, and how do I know that they'd fit?

    • +1

These will not fit. SO-DIMM RAM is for laptops

    • +1

The really long ram with chunky heat seats is for desktop, laptop ram is very small and thin. You need to find out if your laptop is DDR3 or DDR4 to know which one will fit in.

To complicate things some DDR3 laptops may only support DDR3L (low voltage) sticks, good news is that low voltage sticks work no problem on regular laptops too.

  • is the link different now?

or I'm looking at a different one? https://www.amazon.com.au/Corsair-CMW32GX4M2C3200C16W-Vengea…

    • totally different
