Help me find a Double/Tandem pram

Hi Guys,

Im after a pram that can fit our newborn baby as well as a seat/section for occasional use by our 3 year old. Anyone know of any good deals? Im on the South Coast of NSW at Kiama but head to Sydney regularly. New or used in good condition, just after the best bargain.

Thanks!

  • I just bought one of these from Baby Zone direct ..

Looks massive but it's actually only just wider than a Strider 3. Fits through a standard door

They have it on special for $489.95 atm .. pretty cheap in comparison to Phil & Teds etc

  • Not really a bargain (Cough) but the new Bugaboo Donkey can expand from 1 to 2 child use, depending on attachments so if your 3 year old is not with you, then you can just make the pram smaller (Width wise) so it only fits your newborn, but its extremely expensive (approx $2K for bassinet and toddler seat attachments)

LMAO! I seriously thought you were joking about the model name as I'm not up with the latest in Bugaboo! An apt name for anyone foolish enough to fork out that much money!

I have two doubles, perhaps some would think I'm a donkey for having two, however, we bought a Baby Jogger City Elite from the UK around a year ago whilst over there paying only $450 for it at the time, crazy price as it is over double that here, which I use solely for walking the local neighbourhood, which I do everyday, and the second, a Graco Quattro Tour Duo Stroller which I have in the car for use out and about.

The Baby Jogger is a side by side and only just squeezes through regular doorways, however, the Graco is a forward and backward which can be used from birth as the rear seat lays completely flat. We got the Graco at a staff price of $150 because a colleague's husband works at Rubbermaid, however, I see that DealsDirect sell it, but it is currently out of stock, http://www.dealsdirect.com.au/p/graco-quattro-tour-duo-strol…

The Baby Jogger is a delight to push around and provides a brilliantly smooth ride over footpaths and park tracks. It feels quite light to push around, has pneumatic wheels (the ability to pump them up) which could be seen as a plus or a minus depending on who you talk to. The sunshades are extra long which is a great advantage as it covers a great majority of the kids, especially our younger bub, hence sun in the eyes just doesn't happen. The Baby Jogger has less standard "extras" than the Graco, however, they can all be bought as add-ons, at an extra cost of course. I find the storage is not as good on the Baby Jogger compared to the Graco, the back nets I find almost useless.

I really love the Graco, probably more than the Baby Jogger especially considering the price difference; the turning circle on the Graco is brilliant, it's not majorly wide when trying to navigate shopping centres etc, both children have the ability to see out and around, both children have sunshades, we can sight both of them even when the sunshades are down, the additional drink/food holders for both kids and adult are great, the storage underneath is ample, the wheels are hard plastic hence no need to pump them up, however, it is a heavy stroller when empty let alone when fully loaded; ours is loaded with a 2.5 yo and an 8 month old. That said, we like the weight of it as we feel it is sturdy and enjoy the workout. Lastly, one might struggle to fit it into smaller car boots, we have a station wagon and it takes up approximately a third of the boot space. Both of these strollers fold up like a dream!

I would highly recommend both of them to anyone!

Forgot to mention, we get comments/compliments about the Graco stroller all of the time. At least we can refer people to Deals Direct now, where hopefully they'll get more in stock!

    Bugaboos are ridiculously overpriced!

We bought a second hand Phil & Teds with tandem seat, rain cover, shade cover and handlebar carry pouch for $200. It was in great condition too. I'd look on ebay, etc for a second hand one.

This is a tough question and we found that no matter what you do, you have to compromise on something. We got a Phil & Ted Sport and that is ok I guess.

  • have a look at gumtree, no idea if that will help though.
