Dyson vs LG CordZero A9 Vs Samsung Jet Light VS70

My old Dyson has thrown in the towel after a good ~9 years and I am currently looking to buy a new vacuum.

I noticed that both LG and Samsung have released stick vacuums too and they seem to have some features that sound superior to the Dyson Stick vacuums. For example - they have spare batteries that you can switch over so the max clean time is twice as long as a Dyson and they just have an on/off button instead of having to hold the trigger down the whole time you are vacuuming.

I am wondering if anyone here has had any experience with the Samsungs or the LGs compared to the Dyson that will assist in helping me make up my mind or any advice as to which vacuum to buy.

For reference, these are the Vacuums I am trying to choose between.

My mom had an LG one that has a head attachment that does mopping. I found that really good.

    • That one does look really good. Its a bit out of my price range though.
From my understanding, its the same Vacuum with less attachments though.
How does she like the LG as a vacuum?
Has she ever had a Dyson that she could compare it to?

      • I don't think she did and because her place is mostly hard floors, I don't think I can make a fair comparison.
My wife and I both went, yeah, if we can afford it, we might go with LG just for that attachment because that made cleaning hard floors so so so much easier.

  • Had the same dilemma too, but best try in store to tell for yourself. For me, Samsung and dyson is more similar in term of suction power. But it's not all about suction power, the floor head matters more.

    Have you considered Xiaomi dreame?

    • +1 and on sale from gearbite

  • I had a Dyson v6 and I bought the LG A9 with the power mop and all the tools.
I waited until ebay had the 20% disccount for the good guys and paid less than $1000. Regular price was 1200.

Actually it is $999 at the moment in the good guys.

LG is heavier than my old dyson v6.
LG is quietter than Dysin v6 but maybe a little bit noiser than Dyson v11.
the mop is quite good. it uses the battery a lot, but with 2 baterries it is ok.
I like the feature in LG that you can adjust the length of the tube. it is very handy to vacuum stairs. I think they call it telescopic pipe
I also got the extra tool kit to vacuum the car, ceiling fans, cornes, etc. it is caled total care kit.

To test both of them I went to JBHifi and use them (LG A9 and Dyson v11). They both look very similar, maybe lg is a lighter than the dyson. I decided to go for LG because of the batteries and the power mop.

    • I just had another look and didn't realise that it vacuumed and mopped at the same time. I just saw that it was $999 and thought nope too expensive. That would literally halve my cleaning time though. Now it's a dilemma.

    • Does it do a thorough mop or do you still need to do a big mop once a week or so?
Do you put floor cleaner in the mop? It looks like it is just water as far as I can see.

  • Miele have the new Triflex due out in September. The info on their website makes it sound interesting.

    • Got this and have been putting it through it's paces this past week. It's a really nice machine. It's easily on par with the V11 for a cheaper price, albeit a bit heavier, but still super maneuverable. Also, the fact that it stands on it's own and the whole unit looks pretty serviceable (including the battery packs), is a real testament to Miele's design philosophy. All the Dysons I've used at work, have had battery issues or something break just after warranty (and they were pretty light duty), the Miele just feels well built and designed for servicing.

Definitely was worth holding out a bit longer for.

  • We went from a Dyson v8 to the Samsung Jet 90, which is the model up to what you're looking at. The v8 was our first stick vacuum and it was much more convenient than our old corded vacuum, but we still ended up using our corded vacuum half the time for a better clean.

In comparison we have never had to use our corded vacuum since getting the Jet90. The Jet90 cleans much better and much quicker than the v8, and the Clean Station is a godsend - we absolutely hated having to manually empty and clean the v8 bin and have dust escape and get in our face.

    • I ended up going for the LG Cord Zero as JB had it out for $799 down from $899 and came with a bonus $100 gift card and I managed to get a $500 gift card for $400 from someone who was trying to get rid of it. So it ended up costing me $699 and I got a free $100 gift card.
It is a great vacuum. I would probably go the cheaper one though if I could do it again as the only difference is the colour and you get 3 extra tools which in my opinion are unnecessary (one of them doesn't even seem to be built for the vacuum as it doesn't lock in like the other tools). The other down side is the dust gets jammed between the container and the filter looking think in the dust chamber and it sometimes doesn't drop out easily. You have to kind of stick your finger in there and try get it out when you are emptying it and its a tight gap so my pinky finger doesn't fit in (I have to use a stick sometimes).
Besides that it is great. I would still buy it again.
