Please don't buy carbon zinc batteries. Pay a few extra bucks and get a 30 pack of Varta from Bunnings.

    chemistry, mainly.
    
    the Vartas are alkaline (and one of the more highly regarded alkalines) which will give you better performance over carbon zinc/"heavy duty" types.
    
    heavy duty batteries are fine for low-drain devices like clocks, old-school remotes, calculators, or that radio you have as part of your emergency kit.
