  • why is this more expensive than the Kingston A2000 when one is NVMe and one is Sata

    • +2

Because this is TLC SSD from Samsung, Samsung SSD isn't cheap. If all you need is a SATA III this is the gold standard pretty much (except pricing), you won't get any better than this. In fact the only thing holding it back is the fact it's SATA III. I have 3 EVO 850 and 1 EVO 860 and the oldest one is 5 years old (bought when release) and it's still fast and reliable as day one.

      • so I am looking for a second drive for games, don't really need a lot of storage so 1TB would do, so would it better to get this or the Kingston

        • +2

If you have a second NVMe slot, go for the Kingston. It's cheaper and faster. This is more for when you already stuff full of NVMe drive on your board, as you can have many SATA III drive but most mobo has 1-2 NVMe drive slot unless you buy PCIe card.

  • +1

Because of the brand. The Kingston is better value, faster and has just as much endurance. I would go Kingston A2000. I currently use a 1TB 970 Evo Plus and 2 TB 860 Evo.

  • +1

i just upgraded to samsung 970 plus as as i had empty nvme slot, don’t notice vast difference to my evo860 which is still going strong …..just depends if you have empty nvme slot for a kingston a2000 or not, or just sata connectors.

  • Any deal on the PRO?

  • Not worth it given that stuff like the WD SN750 is coming into this price. If you have room for an NVMe drive, wait for Prime Day/November deals.

this is the greatest deal apart from the cash back ones
