Any Thoughts on The 130k Flybus Points for Joining HCF Health Insurance?

The offer is described here https://partners.flybuys.com.au/hcf/
My understanding is that 130k points equals $650 which is about half of the annual premium of a decent cover.

I’m currently on bupa and thinking about jumping with them to see how it goes. They seem to cover the same things.

Another thing to note HCF claims they will cover 6 months of premium in case you involuntarily lose your job. Haven’t looked into that and not going to bank on it but given the current uncertain times it could come in handy for some.

Any thoughts? Sounds like a good deal to me but I am very inexperienced with both insurances and flybus (I subscribed a month ago and I don’t even know what flybus dollars are lol)

Thanks

Points depends on your premium, have to pick a premium $6,000+ to get those points…

You’re right I misread that table

      • Also: https://www.hcf.com.au/members/coronavirus-support
the Unemployment Support is offered to those Members prior to 31 March, 2020 with Hospital or Hospital + Extras (but not Extras only???).

If you joined on or after 1 April 2020 a 12-month waiting period applies.

Thanks for pointing that out. To be honest at this point I’m questioning the entire private health insurance policy I already have. I just stumbled upon https://www.doineedhealthinsurance.com.au/ and realised that I didn’t really understand how the health system works in the first place. It seems that in many cases it’s not worth it (or better, it’s not the end of the world if you don’t have it)

@Nedkellyinthebush: The problem with PH is you are either in it (by 25 or whatever) or penalised or dissuaded later from joining.
Soon, when this Economy swan dives off a cliff, PH will be the first financial casualty to go.

But completely agree, PH is just another way to transfer wealth from the young to the old. Pensioners being the major cost while young people/families subsidise their health care. If the government wasn't so hell bent on making you pay twice for your healthcare PH would've bitten the bullet years ago.
