Got this last week. The quality seems good. Only time will tell if it lasts long.
    Works well for now.

I don't totally understand - can you use this to charge a laptop? I don't see a powerbrick supplied anywhere.

    • +1

From description you can use it to charge with other USB Type C charger

    • +1

I think it means if your laptop uses a USB C port to charge, you can use this to continue charging (it's a two way USB C port maybe?)

    • +4

The pictures indicate that you plug 'your' Type C power cord into the hub, it then charges your laptop whilst still making the ports available.

    • +2

It has pass-through charging. This means if you have your USB C charger plugged into your laptop, you can plug the charger into this hub instead, and then plug this hub into the laptop. The idea is so that you don't have to use an additional USB C port for the hub, as it shares a port with the charger.

        Ah ok, thanks.

So this isn't what I need. I'm looking for essentially a Dell dock replacement (ie charges and provides dual video output).

        • +2

Have a look at the HP Dock G5 (it is actually a hub). It supports both USB C/3 and also Thunderbolt. If your Dell supports Thunderbolt, then you should be able to have dual video output using this dock. If your Dell doesn't have Thunderbolt, then you can't get dual video output through a single USB C port and need to keep using your Dell dock.

Or there is the Dell D6000 or D3100 docks.

I have Lenovo E14 laptop which has 1 USB-C port (where I plug in the charger) and 1 HDMI port.
For dual monitor, I can connect monitor to USB-C port with USB-C/HDMI cable, and 2nd monitor to HDMI port, but then I can't charge the laptop.
Can I plug this hub to my laptop, connect USB-C charger to hub and use both HDMI (laptop/hub) to connect 2 monitors and charge the laptop as well along with connecting keyboard/mouse to USB3 ports to the hub?

  • I purchased this last time and ended up leaving a 1* review on Amazon unfortunately.

Great price and worked well - for about 2 months.

YMMV and Amazon refund policy is great if you want to take a punt (full refund no questions asked in my case).

It's a shame because I can't find anything else at this price point with the mix of ports I need (Ethernet + SD + HDMI + USB C… if anyone has any suggestions!)

    • +1

I don't think you can get that combination in any single device

      • +1

Apologies to OP if I have comment on the wrong device - this is what I purchased.

        • What happened to it?

          • +1

@Circly: Started being intermittent and then just stopped. Appeared to be bad connection from where cable meets hub.

            • +4

@Tafe: I have the same issue with another model from Heymix, i think it is a quality issue.

I have had few Ugreen hub and they all work like charm.

            • +1

              @Tafe: Hi Tafe

if there have any problem with the product
              plc contact us
we will help you to change new one as free

              by the way
The hub could rarely interrupt wifi/bluetooth signal during using, it's a bug of USB 3.0 & wifi/bluetooth 2.4g signal with some equipments. But if connecting 5G wifi/bluetooth signal this kind of problem can be avoid. If you still can not solve the problem, Pls connect us support team

              • @auselect: OP I have the ethernet one without the SD card slot, the ethernet port never working, the laptop will show ethernet is plugged in but no internet, can you please send me a new one? what information do you need?

              • @auselect: Sure, I'd happily take a 2nd shot if you're offering. PM'd.

              • +1

@auselect: Just as a matter of follow-up, auselect sent though a replacement no questions asked.

In that regard, if you get a bad device I can recommend the seller will be forthcoming in rectifying.

Anyone have feedback on whether this hub runs hot?

    • +1

I have 2 hubs from Heymix, they never run hot, but both of my units are fault, cant plugin too many devices at the same time, so maybe this is the reason to keep the heat down.

  • Question regarding hubs like this - can I connect a second screen to my laptop using this (extended)? For example, I have this hub connected to one monitor, and another monitor connected to the native HDMI port on my laptop. Does is work like that?

    • worked

      • Worked? I meant to type "Does it work like that"?

        • it can work like that

    • +1

I have Lenovo S480 and X1 carbon, I also have Heymix hub but not this one and you can only use the USB-C or the HDMI port on the laptop, it won't work to use the hub with HDMI and the HDMI on the laptop.

  • I use a different brand of the same thing on my mobile phone as studio camera. Yeah you read right. I hook a power bank to the PD so the phone charges the whole time. The hdmi runs to an old spare monitor so I can check I'm in frame, and with the USBs I hook up a keyboard and mouse, so I can save the videos with meaningful file names. I have a keyboard on another phone that is sitting on my teleprompter. 2 phones, chinese teleprompter, 3 lights and green screen and I'm a youtube god. Well if I could think of anything decent to say I might be….
