    Where’s the bargain?

    • i didn't mentioned any bargain, i just say here in Australia the price is way too much, i want to ask if other people have the same opinion. Thanks

Lets see $1000 for that and about 20min of use.

    or

    Emulator and rom $0

Yeah I agree. Every time I fire up old games on emulationstation I think - wow, these are nowhere near as fun as I remember. I get bored very quickly.

Lately my view is that there are enough excellent new games to keep me occupied and I prefer to leave nostalgia in the past.

Yep, retro gaming is milliseconds of fun. I boot up an old game and get bored really fast. Think with these 1up cabinets, Id probally spend more time building than playing them. Plus have to stand up to play vs couch and wireless control pad.

If child me was shown something like Witcher 3 , Fallout3, Red dead redemption 2 and modern gaming setups, then told to back to play these old games, man biggest tantrum ever.

        • You guys haven't been drinking enough prior to loading up these old games :-P

Realistically, I find that I need to be very selective about the old games I load up to play and it's best to play with decent controllers and with other players. Games like Alien vs The Predator (the Capcom one) hold up pretty well when played with a mate or two. But beat em ups are generally pretty lame experiences when played solo.

Yeah, I never understood the local super inflated prices of these devices. Even for the 'ease' of buy and use, they are far too much. When you have kits of similar quality and 1000s of games available for cheaper.

    Yeah, no.

    Bittboy/PocketGo.

A fraction of the cost, emulates 20 different retro/arcade consoles, comes pre-loaded with hundreds of ROMs and works out of the box.
The storage capacity is limited by the size of the SD card you use, so cou can have thousands of ROMs on them.

    • Rg350 or RG351

I built an emulator a while back using a Raspberry Pi + MAME, it was great for a while but the novelty wears off pretty quickly and that was with a selection of over 3000 games, can only imagine it'd happen much faster with something that can only play a single game. TMNT was in there along with a bunch of the other 4 player cabinet games which appeared throughout the 90's (The Simpsons, Avengers, Vendetta, etc…)

    • Or can get old office dell PC thats being thrown out add wireless xbox 360 controller. Even most garbage dual core or even p4 will do.

      Something like this,

  • I would be happy to buy one of these if there are hundreds of games inside

  • Oh man. Was hoping for NBA Jam and not $1000.

I bought this maybe 6-7 years ago, https://www.mygamesroom.com.au/shop/ultra-platinum-pro/ . Considerably more expensive, but got it on sale for $2500 shipped from NSW to me in Vic. Full size 4 player upright arcade machine, thousands and thousands of games. Arcade games, virtual pinball, nintendo, super nintendo, sega master system, mega drive, neo geo, game gear, atari 2600, atari jaguar, intellivision, the works.

Theres probably much cheaper options out there these days, and my unit may even be considered overpriced, but that arcade cabinet with two games for $999 is a joke.

    • Something like this would be the easiest way to get a machine sorted out, and you're paying the privilege for it. Looks hecking groovy, especially if you can tinker on it.

  • $999 and it's a 3/4 scale machine. Overpriced.

Check it out in person when they're in stock. They're hilariously tiny.

  • emulation has come a long way be it pandoras box, pi4 or handhelds like rg351p. Arcade 1up reputation amongst enthusiasts is average at best especially given the number of options out there today.

  • costco are selling the 1UP bartop single player cabs for around $400 but quality looks average at best with cheap button.

  • The prices for us are so inflated! $600USD but we are paying $1400AUD for the Attack from Mars pinball. If it was under a grand would be an instant buy from me.
