Samsung Tab A 10.1 VS Alldocube Iplay20 (Chinese Brand) Help Me Choose

Planning on buying two tables, one for each of my girls, and i'm just wondering if to go for an off-brand, or stick with Samsung. I would like to get the opinions of those who have this tablets or had them (or anyone with insight).

The Alldocube iplay20 10.1 can be had for $188~ AUD with a 32gb card, case, au charger, pen and screen protector.

Alldocube iplay20 specs:

*64gb tablet storace
*4G LTE (so the tablet is cellular?)
*WIFI
*Resolution: 1920x1200
*4GB RAM
*Octa core processor
*Front Camera: 2M pixels
*Rear Camera: 5M pixels

VS

Samsung tab A 10.1 for $299 AUD atm, no inclusions. Cellular version going for around $449.

Samsung specs:

*32GB tablet storage
*WIFI
*2GB RAM
*Octa Core Processor
*Resolution: 1920x1200
*Front Camera: 5M pixel
*Rear Camera: 8M pixel
*Two-Year Warranty

My take away from this is the alldocube beats the Samsung easily, on paper. The price with all it's extras is amazing to me. The Samsung you are getting a very known and proven brand, alongside a two-year warranty. Am i missing something here, or are you just paying for the Samsung brand here?

  • You are taking a hell of a risk with the Alldocube. As you said, Samsung are proved brand with known build quality. You are diving into the unknown. A frustrating tablet is a nightmare.

    • Yeah it's something that'll be taken into consideration when i do buy. The Samsung's build quality is pretty much guaranteed. Once i do more research on the Alldocube, i'll have a better idea of their build quality.

Hoping other who have owned the alldocube can chime in, there was a deal on it recently that had a decent response.

      • got a alldocube m5xs for parents start of last year build quality is excellent metal body + no creaks

recently it seems all the brands are using the similar design/manufacture and build quality is ensured this way - the techlast P20HD doesn't look that different to the m5xs for example.

the only downside i know of is not getting netflix hd because of 'widevine' support and only 'approved' devices gets support, but we don't watch netflix so no problems there

this guy does good reviews: https://techtablets.com/2020/08/the-best-budget-lte-android-…

        • I really wanted to buy this but as a huge Netflix and Disney Plus user I guess I cant because of the non hd support.

  • have an aldocube, its been fine. cant remember what version. its used by kids, does job for them. certainly not great. But all depends what you buy it for

  • I vote for the Alldocube. Techtablets declared it the best budget tablet for the whole year. Its using a weak Unisoc chip, but for media it will be fine, be aware it probably won't ever update from Android 10.

  • It depends on what you are using it for. The alldocube has the advantage of the LTE modem (which has b28), more ram and storage. The Samsung has the advantage of widevine L1. If it is being used for Netflix and possibly Disney plus (the information is confusing with Disney plus), and is more likely to get updates. Both have the same panel AFAIK.

Here is a comparison of the two in case you haven't put them side by side

  • Have a look at the Teclast P20HD

  • +1

Can't recommend either but the 2GB of RAM really hurts the Tab A usability. Have got a 7 year old Tab 3 which has 1.5GB of RAM which makes the new version a joke.

I've used the Tab A and it's not worth it.

    • I bought an iplay 20 pro (6GB Ram) hopefully its not a mistake

      • I got two alldocube iplay 20 pro.

Though initially the youtube issue where your videos only play in the lowest resolution when you start skipping videos. This appears to have been fixed.

Sure youtube only plays Max 1080p. Its fine. Screen is decent. Build quality is OK.

Camera is a potato but wasn't expecting much given the price.

The dual sim or single sim+microsd card is just a bonus.

  • Samsung, at least you know it will work.

  • I'm torn as well, what did you decide ?
