2666 means it doesnt suit the newest 4000 series processors?

But it should be fine on anything a bit older?

  It will run on 4000 series processor although you will not be taking the full advantage of the IMC. You will need 3200 for that. 2666 is the stock JEDEC speeds though so it should run.
